I need to make a webside for my new little busines, which I am about to start.
I have no clue how to make one or where to start.
My questions:
1. where do I start & can it be free?
2. Is it easy to build?
3. do you have to pay for it to be hosted ?
4.will I be able to keep changing and adding things, pictures to it?
Any suggestions or directions are wellcome
Please be gentle, I am a woman and not very technical one.:-(

It can be free but given that this is for a Business is really "cheap and amateur" the look and feel that you want to display to your customers? Things that are free can sometimes be the most expensive option as you need to factor in the lost business.
Things like http://www.moonfruit.com/ can be a starter for 10 if you do want to go down this route.0 -
My suggestion is if you want to learn about setting a website is to use Squidoo. Their tutorials are great and you can also get paid if someone visits your website. Then you can do like me, now that I can crasp the feel for blogging, I purchased my own domain0

gbbo.co.uk - all free0

As the above post, I would recommend gbbo.co.uk
I have personal experience of setting a website up with them, there are many tutorials, I managed to get my site up and running without any help and now people are buying from my site
They offer free support, it's mainly a campaign to get small British Business's online, they also offer
FREE. co.uk domain for 1 year
FREE easy-to-update website for 1 year
FREE email address @yourdomainFREE support
The costs after 12 months are reasonable as well
I'm finding the next stage really hard, SEO, so I'm approaching people setting up in business who are offering free SEO in return for them using your site in their portfolio - if you don't ask you don't get !!"Life can only be understood backwards, but it must be lived forwards "

If it's for your business and you don't know what you're doing then ask someone who has experience.......;)
Your website is your businesses first point of contact. If it looks amateur then that is how it will be portrayed.
Stay clear of GBBO unless you want a mundane looking site that is the same layout as everyone elses.Estate Agent, Web Designer & All Round Geek!0 -

I'd have to argue with this, I had no experience and although it took a little time (tears & frustration), my website is totally unique and I am now getting a good return through it.
I have been up and running for just over 12 months now, and not one month has been at a loss. If you are committed you will succeed
You can personalise GBBO in any way that you wish
I am also a woman and (was) not a very technical one, I'm still learning, but doing very well from it !!!!!"Life can only be understood backwards, but it must be lived forwards "

been in the web hosting business since 1999 and i have tried and tested most of these so called free website sites ( GBBO, Moonfruit etc.) and they all have 1 thing in common they all produce cheap and amateurish websites.
for as little as £40 you can get a bespoke webite designed, approx. £20 to £40 a year to host the site although some designers will through this in with their design. a .uk domain £8 for 2 years and dont forget if you are selling a dedicated IP and an SSL certificate are essential (£15 a yr approx.)
another thing that bugs me, you see many businesses that have their own websites and yet they use emails such as @live, @ Hotmail and @gmail rather than @mydomain0 -
Here is an example of GBBO for you: http://www.christopherjohnhayhurst.co.uk/home0

I've been asked to make a site for a friend and made this http://amithemessiah.weebly.com/ just to see how it works. Have also played on wix.com which is impressive but has a lot of bad reviews from users.0

Where? By website I'm assuming you mean several pages, not just a single page. And is it a 12 year old kid from some 3rd world country putting it together?0
