Facebook - what happened to chronological order of posts

I am trying to work out what has happened to Facebook. I have a number of friends around the world and their posts no longer arrive in chronological order.

Anyone care to explain what is happening and how I can get back to chronological order?

  • Yes a lot of people are angry about this, there's no easy solution - but you can use Chrome with FB classic - http://lifehacker.com/5846386/facebook-classic-puts-your-news-feed-back-into-chronological-order

Yes, Facebook seem hell-bent on ruining the experience.

They've put back that horrible chat sidebar as well.

Stop stuffing around with it Facebook, otherwise you're pushing people to the greater evil of +.

I really don't get what the changes are about. I looked them up and it seems they think that most people don't look at fb everday so they need the top stories for the last few days rounded up and presented to them when they do look.

So FB now selects Top Stories (using unknown algorithm) followed by Recent Stories classified only by the hour, not by the time posted. Yeah right, but I have a hobby which I share with friends around the world, and we keep in touch about it almost daily. Indeed sometimes one will post an update of some major news item for the rest to follow. So having it in chronological order is vital. We have to be able to see the latest posts in chrono order.

It sucks big time, it really does. I am going to have to stop using it.

Does Google + run its newsfeed items in chrono order?

There's no point trying to fight it. Once you work out a workaround, Facebook will go and change it again. Resistance is futile.
You're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.

It's a pain in the knackers.
All you can do is click the box to unmark it as a top story; once it's done you can refresh the page and it puts the recent updates back in the right order. Then drag the chat bar as high up as possible on the right to hide that grim update scroll box.

I'd recommend moving to a blog. Some friends and I share our hobby on blogger. You can allow comments on posts, etc.

Click on 'lists' (bottom of the left hand column)
Click on + Create a list
Add all of your friends and save the list
On the home page, hover to the left of the list you've just created and 'add to favourites'
The list will show on the left at the top with 'News Feed', 'Messages' & 'Events'
Then, when you want to see friends' posts in age order just click on the list you have created.

They make a lot of money for a free service, wonder who's paying for it.

Indeed - but you see those games - theres money there. See Facebook 'credits' - money there - and i noticed on Uno(I love that game) you could watch a video a day(unless you swapped ip via proxy) and get one coin for watching it - or letting it play.

Now that company has to pay FB for that one credit that you get and they must have had about 50 from me alone and that costs money.

Whatever they are doing and how they are doing it they are doing it well - apart from peeing off people with the layout.
