I've no personal experience but, although the below thread is a little out of date (1899 calls are now 5p each), it might give you an idea.

IMHO, there are many better options for those with a BT residential landline - see the 'HERE' link in my signature below.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
Can't comment on BT, but I use First Telecom Cable Saver (I am a satisfied Virgin Media customer) and am very pleased.
Efficient online ordering and billing. Keep your number. No upfront or monthly fixed fees. Easy to plug in free box...don't have to remember to dial extra numbers. And most important very small monthly bills!!
Can't fault the service I receive and so would recommend you go on and give them a try. ( I see they also offer cheap line rental to BT customers!)"Doing nothing is very difficult..........you never know when you're finished!"0
