  • I just use my moral judgement, and if I don't thing a product is suitable for a particular customer, I wouldn't sell it to them just for the sake of reaching my sales targets.
What sort of whistleblowing policy do you have regularsaver?
  • We can report things we feel are not right - protect our identity and job ect . ie say you feel a manager was encouraging something that was not doing business in a professional manner

One of my colleagues, Amanda, I have to comment. You and I are told that we cannot make a judgement of someone's needs based on the size of their waller ....

Equally find it an odd comment .. even when clarifying 'wallet'? If the Bank determination of 'needs' .. is not based on a customers financial attributes, and their handling / capacity thereof .... just what is it based on?
If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !
  • It should be based on affordability

but why on earth was this customer put on to a bank account that charges £12 per month
  • because of sales target pressure? - if its anything like our branch at the moment the area manager has got our boss calling in EVERY HOUR to report on what has been sold by whom, and the dedicated sales team (customer advisors) were told don't go home until you reach your daily target

I'd be on to the unions quicker than they could shout "tools down"! that is disgusting!
  • I know some of the mobile phone shops do not close until they have reached their targets

there must be something in place to protect the employees. if they are desparate for business, this is then going to reflect on the business they write and the service to customers
  • I am trying not to let it get me stressed out but it isn't easy. I am working out an escape route!!

Are we missing the point? The bank has a responsibility not to loan money or encourage debts (in any form) to someone who is without a way to pay it back. Anyone can complain that this is not being done. (you cannot discuss account specifics unless you are the holder or have permission from the holder but you can tell them what was done without mentioning the account holder)

Bank staff are on quotas. They have to rope in (**) amount of customers per month. They are being irresponsible in order to meet these quotas.

I'd write to the financial complaints people and the bank's head office too. Telling each that you have written to the other.... You just sit back and watch the rocket going up their ars**!
