PAC Code and end of contract

My contract with Vodafone comes to an end on the 28th October and I called at the end of September to give 30 days notice to cancel. I got my PAC code which expires on 30/10.

I wanted to know, when I should order a new deal? Do I have to wait until the 28th or can I order a new phone now?

Order from who? If you don;t mind paying for 2 concurrent services, you'll be issued a new number from the new network, and you can later give them the PAC to transfer your number over when you're good and ready.

Firstly giving 30 days notice is terminated by getting a PAC, if you dont port out with the PAC to new telco your termination to Vodafone does not happen.

Do it tommorrow or online before regular "office/shop" hours start tommorrow, give the new telco the PAC and the day your number transfer happens your old account effectively closes & you are billed pro rata with Vodafone to the date your number transfers to new telco & any out of plan unpro-rata charges and allowance exclusions (data, over pro rata allowances in plan, and excluded use as international calling etc etc) will be billed on your final V bill. A further bill may come months later for any recent ROAMING use abroad though. Cancel Direct Debit to Vodafone after final bill. Futher charges, ie roaming will be invoiced later.
SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe ;)

The OP will be charged until the 28th Oct, not pro rata.
Well, in fact they will be charged pro rata plus the ETC that is effectively the same.

You cannot have a used PAC allowing overlapping contract bills un-pro rata from 2 telco's outside the minumim completed term of the old telco, its under unfair contract regulations - how many times Grumbler ???

Firstly, this is just your words yet again. Your repeating references to 'unfair' are very misleading because they require court actions, but you fail to make this clear. And the success of the court actions is still questionable. Yes - how many times?
Secondly, the OP is not outside the minimum term that ends on the 28th of Oct.

    Let's make it clear.
    • I am on 1-month rolling contract.
    • I request the PAC, follow your advice and use the PAC at the very same or the next day.
    • They charge me pro rata plus for the next 29-30 days. (I don't have any personal experience to prove that this is the case, but many people here say that it is).
    • Apparently the network 'are not allowed' to charge for 30 days because this is unfair. I have not seen any document yet saying this directly.
    • I have 2 options:
    1. Claim the money back under the DD guarantee, then take court actions if the network reports a default to CRA(s).
    2. Not to use the DD guarantee and take court actions to claim £10-£15 from the network.
Is this what you keep advising? My apologies if I misunderstood you.

All the trouble can be easily avoided with some anticipation and using the PAC at the end of 30 days.

I understand taking court actions to rectify the things if the worst happened against your expectations. I don't understand creating deliberately the situation that requires court actions (without guaranteed success) to put the things right.

If you use a PAC code, you will be charged the remainder of the 30 days notice you didn't serve when you left.
I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂

I'm guessing they'll charge me until the 28th whatever I do. I want to use the current contract until it ends does that mean that I can't use my PAC until the 29th? Because then, there will only be one day until the PAC expires and that's cutting it fine.

I wouldn't leave it till the last day and give the PAC to the new network 3-5 working days in advance.

    Heres my understanding

A PAC code is not notice to cancel.
If you give notice to cancel then request a PAC code that over rides the cancellation. If you do not use the PAC code in time the contract will revert to the standard rolling contract continue despite your prior now cancelled notice.

When you use the PAC you terminate the "old" contract immediately but the old network charge you 30 days in Leiu of notice. Assuming you are beyond minimum term it does not matter if it's the day afte you get the PAC or 29 days later you will still get the 30 days charge as you did not give notice.

To be clear you are not being charged twice for the service, the old network is charging you as you didn't give notice.
