Ahhhhh... what's wrong with me if I'm getting all mushy at the thought of tight trousers?! :o

It must have been a good news day yesterday indeed! OH got a letter from the HRMC saying that they're changing his tax code to take into account his expenses relating to him washing his work uniform so that's a few extra pennies in our pockets every month! :)

In all the excitement yesterday I forgot to say that I passed that IT course! :j Thank goodness for that, I was worried I'd blown it again! :D Got another one in January to worry about now :o

Well done Birdie! That's a relief :D and don't worry about the next one - that's, like, next year!

Lara, sounds like you're on your way to being very sorted - ah, to have 6 months' wages in an ISA - the stuff of dreams!

I might have a mini (major) breakdown about my career/life at some point. I've finished my internship but basically there are no jobs to apply for before Christmas - which I was sort of prepared for. But now I'm really starting to worry about getting something next year. Especially with wedding in May. I guess I could take a week off, but I don't want to put off potential employers by saying, can I take May off? So maybe we shouldn't book our honeymoon yet, but that makes me feel a bit sad, plus we'd hoped to get a cheaper deal if we booked before Christmas. What do you girls reckon?

Dinah, so glad that your families (most of them) are thrilled with the news - as they should be! I was all excited like Archers yesterday - I kept wanting to share your news, though it would have made me sound bonkers :o

I'd just book it Poddle, employers expect you to have holidays at some point during the year, you would be available for an immediate start which is a plus, so the idea you'll take 2 weeks off 5 months later certainly wouldn't stop me hiring someone.

So how long have you actually been student-ing Lara? Did you start late or have you just done course after course?! I'm very confused as you seem to be a perpetual student! :o

Hmmm no idea what to suggest Poddle, but most employers are fairly flexible when it comes to pre-booked holidays, heck I officially started my job on the day I flew out to the Dominican! Maybe just book to go away for a week/10 days in May instead of 2 weeks if that was what you were planning so it won't call for quite as much time off work.

Nice to see you Flower! Got any piccies of your handsome boy?! :D

Hi Flower! Yay, post pics of Noah :) are you looking forward to his first Christmas?

Thanks Birdie and Dinah - I guess if it's booked, it's booked! I suppose I'd thought about taking some time off before the wedding, but that's definitely a luxury, so two weeks (give or take) isn't unreasonable. I'm going to try to do lots of wedding stuff now while I'm off, so I'm super organised and ready for the job hunt in January.

I would think 2 days before the wedding is perfectly reasonable, if you had a 2 week holiday often the dates mean it's 11 days off work rather than 10.

You seem so happy Flower, your posts just have a much more upbeat feel (and more smiley faces!) than they did before.
