  • Morning everyone :D

Decided today is going to be a good day :D (I'm up & down like a yo-yo just now:o).

DM coming to visit so will be lovely to see her and get some fresh groceries!:D

After she'd called, managed to get big cat booking into vet for his very overdue booster (haven't been able to take him) ..... he's driving me nuts sitting at the front door & trying to trip me up every time I move as he thinks I've forgotten to let him out ..... but he can't go or I'll never get him back in again!

Not looking forward to trying to get him in the carrier  and not quite sure how DM & the shopping are going to get in the house without him getting out :eek:

    Wish us luck!:)

  • Managed to catch big cat unawares and somehow got him (and all 24 extra legs that they all mysteriously develop when faced with a cat carrier :rotfl:) in and boxed up.

He usually howls all the time he's in the car ... but apart from the odd small yeowl was really quiet. Not sure if it was the difference in car or because DM and I were chatting (usually just me in the car) - what a difference!

He's lost a bit more weight :( but really glad we didn't go sooner - he was literally a bag of bones when I got home from hospital (don't think he'd eaten a lot when I was away) so at least he's put a bit of weight back on. Everything else (ears & teeth - she said he has really good teeth for a 7 yo :T .... that'll be all the things he catches;))

Came home, had some lunch, DM went away, Boss arrived (with some lovely flowers from my colleagues) etc etc and now exhausted! :o

Just realised it's still a week to pay day :( - seems to have been a very long month but not sure if it's just because I'm stuck inside.... want to "play" with money but haven't got any left to move around anywhere:o

Have obviously made savings on things like fuel (usually spend £20 - £30 / week but still estimating as hadn't been using new car for a full month yet!) but DM doing the grocery shopping  - what I'd spend £30 on is coming in at £45ish each time:eek::eek:

I have a £4 off £40 MOC (valid to 2 Dec) so think I'll use that next time and do some stocking up!

Really need to sort & inventory inside freezer - it's so full there's stuff in the wrong drawers (usually keep raw meats in one drawer, made meals in another etc) so have loads of stuff in there that I've forgotten about:o

Sure there's at least enough chicken, turkey & fish to last most of December:T

Put that on tomorrow's "to do" list!;)

Might just have to use a page of my new book!:D

  • Hi RFTA. glad today was a better day and puddy cat ok. Let's hope he puts some more weight on over winter now it's getting colder.

Hope the flowers from work were lovely :D

How long til you can drive again? Or could you do an online shop say every couple of weeks for. Main stuff and just ask your mum to get fresh in between to keep costs down?

Hope you continue to be on the mend :)

Thanks Jonno ..... flowers are lovely!:D and now nicely arranged in my relatively new vase I got in I*kea for something really silly when I was there a wee while ago (I think it'd started around £15, was reduced to £7 and thought ..... naw - and was then back the next week & it was 79p)!:money:

I am allowed to drive - and have been into the village (once!) which is about a mile.... it's really me saying "no" as I'm still a bit wobbly now & then so just think it's better not to .....

Good idea & think I may try that with the shopping:)

I do have a £4 off £40 Mr T (not my fav place but limited atm) valid to 2 Dec so will use that next weekend :)

So ... need to try to do some meal planning

Not my strong point - mainly as it's usually a case of what I can eat - rather than what I want (or plan) to eat that day :(

Decided to go through inside freezer and see what's there - conscious that I've been putting loads in ..... I try to keep things like raw ingredients (eg chicken breasts etc) in here - and use the outside one for bulkier items / stock / whole chickens / bulk purchases (eg have 6 huge bags of Quorn mince as it was 1/2 price) etc.

[STRIKE]Anyway, here's the list - I've put the stuff that I can't really eat just now together so that's taking up most of a drawer unfortunately:( - but at least it's there for when I can eat properly again!:)[/STRIKE]

ETA - have moved to separate post to make it easier to find when I think there's nothing in it!

There's a fair bit of stuff that I'm not sure about .... it's not "white" food so have put that separately & I'll need to investigate!:)

mmmmmm Think I need to go & do the outside one as well - there's def a whole chicken (which does around 8 - 10 meals) and some quiches (and I have 3 in the fridge that I need to freeze) ......:o

ETA well that was worth doing! Found some chicken casseroles in the outside freezer (must've run out of room inside when I did them!:o So have swapped these over with stuff inside that I can't eat just now!:))

Will be back to update shortly - crumpets calling atm yum yum
