We have this policy on a rental property. The monthly cost has just been increased from £34 pm to £42 pm (that's a whopping increase).
Are there any similar policies out there?

mines just gone up, you can get it cheaper, but i have to say the service i have had from british gas has been great.
It gives you that peace of mind that you can call them out, anytime my tenants have had a problem i get in touch ith british gas and its fixed more or less straight away.
Not only this you can claim the tax back on the homecare.0 -
shop round online as other companies offering this service and cheaper0

call them and say you're leaving - they'll reduce the price.

We have British Gas Homecare 200 and have been paying £23 per month ...... then NPower rang and offered the same deal for £16, rang British Gas and they reduced our Homecare 200 to £17 per month so we stayed with them. I know we could get it a pound cheaper per month by moving to Npower, but we've never had a problem with the odd occasion we've had to call out British Gas, and we would end up paying both policies for a 14 day period (not covered for the first 14 days with Npower), and being start of the season where we will be turning our heating on didnt want to risk changing companies.
Also Npower are offering a deal where if you are dual fuel users with them, and dont call them out within the 12 months they will refund half your premium, BUT only if you are up to date with payments, which they didnt tell me when they were trying to get me to sign up, even though i asked the question ........ we pay our gas and electricity by direct debit so not technically ever in arrears but we can often have to readjust our direct debit so could technically be classed as "not up to date" .....0 -
I gave them a ring and they reduced the price so i'm happy.0

I have cover with British Gas and have to say that I find their service excellent.
My boiler is over 25 years old and is covered by them. Last December, during all that snow, I couldn't get my heating to come on. I rang them in the morning and they came later that day.
It needed a new thermacouple (?) which they supplied and fitted.
Yesterday I tested my heating to see if it is good to go for the winter and it wouldn't come on.
They have just been and fitted a new pump and in now works fine. As long as the parts still exist they will fit them.
Perhaps I could get cheaper cover elsewhere but I am happy to pay for the good service and peace of mind.0
