    That is a very good point which is why a product such as Autoglym SRP or Meguiars Deep Crystal 3 step products are good. They fill the scratch marks, but do not rub the clear coat off.

    I've polished a fair few cars with mechanical rotary and random orbit polishers and for this I use a paint depth guage so I have an idea of how much paint I have to play with when polishing.
