Good Morning everyone, wet 'n'windy here in the Medway but its hopefully going to dry up later.Did a bit of baking yesterday but am going to make a stack of fairy cakes today to take round to the boys .I was looking at the small cake decorations yesterday and thought Mmmm they are a bit pricy so I ended up buying a small packet of chocolate buttons and a small packet of smarties at around twice the amount and half the price of the Dr Oeckter stuff. When I make a little iced fairy cake the boys aren't keen on the bit of cherry in the middle so it s going to be a smartie or a choc button instead.I think I make make some rock cakes for my eldest DD as she is coming for coffee around 11.00 and they are her favourite.
I have started to put away my summer stuff and dig out the woolies as the winter will soon be here.I have a lovely pair of fur lined slippers that DD gave me last year that I keep only to use when its cold so they are coming out of retirement .Tomorrow I have my 'flu jab so hopefully it will keep the germs at bay.Right time to get a wriggle on ,coffee, toast, and its a case of lets get baking :):)
Have a great day everyone whatever you are doing

    Morning all

It's tipping down here and I was so tired left my washing on the line last night. Never mind sure it will all get dry at some point. Plans today to have a good tidy up and ironing. Have got the big dog coming for a sleepover as well. Not sure about dinner will rummage through the freezer. Not sure if DS wants to go swimming or not.

Hugs to anyone who needs one today, have a good day all.

    Morning All

Managed a 'sleep in' til 7 this morning laid there til about half past then got up and enjoyed a quiet house for half an hour!

Have a chicken in the oven roasting on a bed of leeks, onions, celery & carrots which I'm hoping can be blitzed with some stock to a soup once the chickens done. Also made a sweet & sour veg thing (red & yellow peppers, courgette, onion, pineapple, sweetcorn & a jar of sauce from the back of the cupboard which I'll freeze in portions with some rice (or maybe couscous) for my work lunches.

Going to prep the veg for dinner next so it just needs lighting this afternoon as I have some mystery shopping to do and the Twins are coming over for dinner.

Didn't really get very far with the tidying yesterday as I really CBA! will try harder today.

Seen yesterday that M&S have their christmas cake and christmas puddings half price and their own boxed chocolates were half price too. Their own cakes are on offer aswell 2 for £3 - the chocolate fudge cake is lovely!

    have a good day x

  • Good morning everyone.
I thought i would leave some of my washing for the weekend as someone at work said we were in for a nice weekend. Wrong, it was raining on and off all day yesterday and it has been raining ever since i have got up today.
Could anyone please help with this, i have a dish of chicken in gravy in my freezer dated 04/04/10, is it still ok to eat or should i just bin it?
Sistercas, i hope your DD recovers from her fall and feels better soon.
Moorhen, congratulations to your DD :T. It does make you feel so proud.
Hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

    Morning all :)

I need to pop up to aldi to pick up some things for the kids packed lunches, do a washload of laundry, tidy around and cook dinner (turkey, veg, potatoes)

Leftover turkey breast will be sliced up for sandwiches, the rest of the meat harvested and frozen for pies/stews/etc. Carcass boiled up for stock.

Today is one of those days when I miss baking - i have problems with gluten and I find that baking kicks dust up into the air and I always end up ill from it :(. If I could still bake, I wouldn't need to pop to aldis today.

What I really want to do is curl up back in bed when the kids go to their dads. I have a headache, and since I went back on antidepressants I'm horribly tired and dizzy :( I'm two weeks in so i'm hoping this will ease up a little soon.

I really need to get started on making christmas cards for family, but I'm hankering after some new stamps, only I can't really afford them so I'm left scowling and feeling uninspired by the stamps I already have (how's that for sulky :rotfl: )

It's raining here today, so really glad I got the school uniforms washed yesterday, although I'm regretting not putting the veg peelings into the compost last night - now I've got to trek down the garden, fight my way past the wet cabbages and cauliflowers, take the lid of the compost (and end up gettign soaked from that since you need to give it a good pull, then it all of a sudden just pops off - probably giving me a nice faceful of freezing cold water)
Or i could just say 'honey, you know when you go down to the shed could you take that compost for me pleeease' :rotfl: (evil wife moment)

Ah well, time to get moving. Have a good day all :D

  • Morning all,
It's raining here but still quite warmish, my foot is very sore today rather than painful, I blame the buses for making me wait on it yesterday
I am refusing to let it stop me today as I have far to much to do to be sitting around. My ironing pile has increased dramatically after a week on the sofa  so will attempt that at some point, maybe half today half tomorrow. Need to clean, hoover, mop throughout, change the beds and do some more washing
Chicken is in the oven, need to prepare the veg will do enough also for a soup, I'm making a mars bar cake today and I still haven't made the upside down pear sponge which must be done today or the pears will have to be thrown

No plans to go out today so a NSD :j money is so tight atm.
Will need to sort through wardrobes at some point, usually make a bomb this time of year selling dd clothes, half her clothes still have tags on :o
Anyway best get on, hugs to everyone I love this thread feel really at home :)

Have a great day all xxx

    Yummy I love sprouts too:T:T:T

Hope DD signed the accident book and she feels better soon x

I have also been sorting out my winter wardrobe and have persuaded the boys to sort their wardrobes too. Now have two bags of good, but too small tops and hoodies for re-cycling. On with the cooking I think now!!
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

    Morning all,

Slept in till 9 today :jso feel very sprightly, have got our bedding in the wm, will do dd's tomorrow, its dry and blowy here so should dry nicely.

Got on well in the bathroom yesterday, door and frame and shelves had another coat of eggshell, need one more coat and then its just little bits like the light pull and the air brick cover to go up (I bought a beautiful reclaimed victorian one) then we are done.

Islandmaid, I sell a fair bit on Ebay, will be listing this afternoon, search for a similar item to what you are selling and have a good look at their listing, take a note of postage costs etc, do not overcharge for postage as this puts people off.

I nearly always start mine of at 99p its a bit of a gamble as it could potentially go for that, but I find it attracts more people if you start low, and I have not yet sold anything for 99p. Be relly honest in your listing, if there is something wrong with the item highlight it take a photo if you can, that way they cant say you did not tell them, good luck, give me a shout if you need any help x

Sistercas, ouch pood dd, hope she is ok xx

    Have good days all xx

(((hugs))) to those in need. Wet and windy here.

I had a lovely time at the wedding last night :) the bride looked beautiful. She isn't normally very ladylike but scrubbed up well :rotfl:. It was held in an old country house and had a very vintagy feel. They put a slideshow of people's pics on a tv so night guests could see what happened in the day which I thought was lovely. I also got to catch up with twin boys who I've known since I was born - we used to spend loads of time together as kids as our mums were best friends but have grown apart now we are older, was nice to see them! :)

Whilst I'm not hungover today as only had 3 wines, I do feel under the weather. I have been on the go since Monday, out every night too, so think now that I've stopped my body is protesting :( ! I am planning on doing very little today. I want to catch up on Strictly/X Factor, and I didn't wake up in time for F1 today so need to avoid the news til I see the re-run later!

I've just been chatting online to my friend in New Zealand :D I go on hols in less than 2 weeks, but won't get to her til 2 weeks later. she has offered to add me to her car insurance so I can use it when I'm there :j:eek:! Luckily they drive same side as us! I can't wait to go now.

OS wise - despite planning on doing nothing I still have to massively tidy the floordrobe :o, go through my wardrobe for sumer stuff I need for hols, I'm in the mood for cooking so may make a veggie roast dinner and a soup :), need to sort out yday's laundry and put WM on with bedding later. Phew!!

    Have a good Sunday all
