Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Sunday 9th October. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all
Hubby is up & watching TV, the Japanese GP, with a cuppa & a bacon sandwich, I will watch the start of the race but I'm not interested in the waffle beforehand.
Plans for today include doing my roots, as I'm beginning to look like a badger & cooking roast pork for lunch & piece of gammon for hubby's packups next week.
I hope everyone has a good day.
Hugs Hester

    Good Morning x
Hester - thank you for thinking of me and I have been sleeping much better. Like Taplady I seem to hibernate in winter. Hope you are managing to sleep well too:T:T:T
Esmf - I hope your migraine has gone.
    Ivyleaf
    - I have also felt very under-the-weather since Friday when I had my flu jab:(:(:(

Despite not feeling that good I have been keeping busy. Nothing exciting but just general sorting and tidying. Today I plan some cooking with kids and i hope to make some cakes of some description.

Disaster struck last night as DD dropped her beloved Iphone in the bath:eek::eek::eek:. Her dad is away at the moment so frantic phone calls and wailing. However level headed DS3 (where would I be without him) stepped into his Dad's shoes and saved the day. He googled what to do and hopefully we have minimised the damage:eek::eek::eek:

So for reference ..... Take out the sim, stand the phone upright in an airtight box with silica gel (luckily I always save them to put in my cupboards), in the airing cupboard for a couple of days. DD is a dope as she keeps opening the airing cupboard and mournfully looking at the box (it is see through) in the hope the phone has magically turned itself on:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Anyway I think another cuppa is the order of the day and dogs are beginning to stir so will want their breakfast shortly. Have a good day x
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Morning Hester, Molly and all who cross / follow,
Many thanks Molly - my migraine is on its way out - have to admit to feeling a bit spaced out though!! That always happens.

Due to being out yesterday at the shops - did a Makro shop and got things for christmas!! and then picked up large packs of paracetemol at Boots, plus medinol (paracetemol for kids)! Thats our first aid cupboard sorted. Then got next years diary as I'm already getting dates for next year. Because we were out yesterday the house looks like a bomb has hit - so will have to clear up before we head over to Mum & Dads later. Then will have the largest mountain of ironing to do before school tomorrow.

Hugs to those in need :)
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

    Morning all,

Woke up later this morning :) am laid in bed with ipad, a coffee and OH gently snorning beside me :rotfl:

I intend to get my butt into gear today and put something on ebUy to sell, I have loads of barely used bits and pieces that I could sell, but although i,ve bought loads, I feel really nervous about selling :o

We finally put the heating on last night, just for 2 hours, but its the start of the slippery slope - the most annoying thing is, is that we have half a forest of logs in the garden, but due to the building work our wood burner is 'off-line' at the mo - did advise OH last night, that if he does not find time to connect it soon, I will get a man in to do it!!!! Oh the shame for him :rotfl: he said it will be done by next weekend :A

Started my christmas shopping yesterday, just a couple of cheap books from The Works, ohhhhh and I bought twin packs of Lynx bulletts (mens smellies) from Poundland, ideal stocking fillers and are about £3+ in Boots.

Roast Pork and all the trimmings today :D

Hope your all feeling better x

    Have a great day x

    Morning all!

went to watch the rugby yesterday, then went to a friends house, then got takeaway indian and died on the sofa watching x factor!

No cooking again today as going out for OH's nans birthday. So need to get her a card, and possibly make her cake.

Washing is still trying to dry, and need to just have a little tidy up, but all in all it will be a relaxing day :)

  • Morning all, before and after :)

Forgot to take my sleepy-meds at 9pm last night so didn't get to sleep till after 1am. And then I woke up at my usual time (about 6am) feeling !!!!. Shall try not to nap so that I sleep well tonight but don't have much faith that I shall achieve it. Am cross with self for forgetting - you'd think after a decade I'd know when to take my medication!

Not much OS happening here today, I think, although it should be an NSD (which yesterday wasn't). Will be going out to a pet-sitting job later on and then to Mass this evening. Other than that, it'll be the usual swish and swipe and not much else.

Hope everyone else has a chilled Sunday :)

    Morning everyone,

Had a lovely night out at my friends house last night, I haven't laughed so much in ages and the food was lovely. We each made dishes that we have all eaten together before so it was a bit nostalgic as well.
The children (teenagers) all got on very well at our house and it was reasonably tidy when I returned home!:D

DD1's team won their netball tournament yesterday. I am so proud of her, this time last year she was in the third team and she has practised hard and is now chosen for the first team every match.:)
The downside of this is there is lots more netball and she has another tournament this afternoon- at least this one is just a friendly.

Hugs to all that need them.

Tea tonight is roast pork and all the trimmings.

    Have a lovely day everyone.:)

    Morning everyone.

Damp here but not raining ATM. Taking the kids swimming shortly, hate going in winter as pool is always cold :rotfl:
Plans for the rest of today are to cook and mash spuds for tea, made the cottage pie filling bit in the SC overnight. Never did any housework yesterday as Costco trip took forever so need to dust upstairs if nothing else. Want to have a go at making a felt gingerbread man, got a Big Shot die one that I want to try out.
Sat and watched the Polar Express with the kids last night whilst finishing knitting my can can scarf so feeling all wntery :rotfl: Got another scarf to knit so will try and start on that tonight.

Hugs and spoons all round. Have a good day OS or not.

Island maid don't be nervous about selling it is REALLY easy BUT just make sure you get your postage costs right otherwise you will be out of pocket.
