Problems with Orange
                    Hey, long time lurker here..
I've had my Orange contract for about a year now and ever since I have had it certain people have not been able to send texts to my mobile (sending fails). I have tried my sim in a different phone and the same thing happens. Also it goes through phases where I can't send texts to people... This has been happening on and off ever since I've had this contract, but just lately it's started getting really annoying!
Would there be any chance the contract could be cancelled so I can go to another network. This is really getting on my wick
Cheers

What did Orange say when you spoke to them about it, or have you put up with it for a year and hoped it'd be enough to end your contract?0

I never really got round to speaking to them about it (the few times I have rung about unrelated things I have gotten through to an indian call center which I can barely understand). The problem sending texts happens on and off, but certain people have never been able to text me, I just assumed it was their phone/network or my mobile, since changing to a new mobile I can see that is not the case and they can text others on orange as I have since found out
and it has worsened over time, especially lately
And I not entirely bothered about the contract, but in a way it would be good if I could go with another network.0 -
try dropping from 3g to 2g and a couple of manual roams to get back onto the network

Your mobile by default should be updating every 15 mins or so with the 2 parts of the network to give its location. Occasionally this doesn't happen, and its the main cause of sms sending/recieving errors. SMS generally go by GSM, calls/data on 3G. Therefore your phone may have a signal on 3G for calls, but not completing the update on GSM (for sms), meaning when you try and send a sms, the phone cant reach the GSM part of the network and it fails. The same is true for incoming messages, if it cant find your phone on the GSM network, the messages back up until it does find you. Hense why people get loads of messages at once. Bear in mind though that the timeout is usually 72 hours. So if you dont update in 72 hours, the messages get deleted. So even if your change phones, the same situation may happen due to your geographic location. It could also be an incorrect SMSC. (sevice center). All you need to do is ring orange and ask them what your last network update times were, if they are more than 30 minutes, thats your problem. Vodafone you can *#105# and get the info on your screen

The phone either connects to 3g or 2g, it doesn't connect to both at the same time, SMS will send fine over 3g.
If other people are getting the error 'sending failed' then the message isnt even leaving their handset, so it'd usually be a problem on the other side0 -
Ring up and ask for all the SIM Diagnostics tests they can run. Prepare to be on the phone for awhile and have all relevant information (IMEI, Serial Numbers etc.) to hand.
If anything fails, they'll send you a new SIM Card for free.0 -
Bfore JDC14 suggestion, backup phone and reinstall software see if that helps first, if not as JDC14 says
SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe

i've been with Orange for at least 14 years and never spoken to an Indian person, whever off shore or in England. quite often i'll get a Geordie but every time i've called it's been a UK based call centre.0
