Halifax Pet Insurance

Options
i have just been informed that my pet insurers Halifax are pulling out of the pet insurance market and my accounts have been transfered to another insurer. The problem is that all existing conditions to my pets are not covered by the new insurers as they will only insure any new condition which occours from the commencemet date ,this will mean that it will cost me money through Halifaxes decision to quit the market
Has anyone any comments

I would phone the new insurers and tell them about your pets condition and if they won't cover you for it, ask them if you can cancel the policy and go somewhere else, as it's not your fault that this has happened

Have a look at your policy. I guess Halifax are just the broker. From what I can google, the Insurer is Agria International Forsakring AB.

Try contacting them direct to see if they would continue the policy.

  • Hi

I am new to this post and have currently got my westie insured with the halifax and as you all know they are stopping all there policies, he has got skin and anal gland problems and over the past 3 yrs i have had many claims so this is leaving us high and dry now and nobody else will take his pre existing conditions on, have complained to the insurance ombudsman but thats gonna take up to 8 wks to hear back from them just wondering if any of you have complained to any other places and had any luck, i am disgusted that they can do this as i was paying extra for the xtra policy that gave him renewed cover every year for the inevitable of chronic conditions but guess it wasn't worth this now.
  • How did you manage this, i have complained to the insurance ombudsman and phoned halifax direct to complain but was told nothing they can do as its not there fault, don't know how you managed to get this offered to you how long have you been with halifax for? What email addy did you use i would be very interested to find out
