I sent an email via halifax website, my pet had an operation for cruciate ligament costing £1650, I was contacted by the halifax to say that they were offering me 3 times the original operation price plus £100 for distress caused totaling £5050, as petplan my new insurer will not cover any cost relating to cruciate ligament such as arthritis. I would definately get in touch again. good luck0

Thats interesting i have looked on there website but cannot find any email addy that you can write to them with, how long have you been with the halifax and did you have the xtra policy aswell? I too have gone with petplan as nobody would take on his pre existing conditions and i wanted an insurance company this time that were less likely to fold up, i am so annoyed with how the halifax can do this to these poor animals and there owners.0

Sorry meant to ask when your policy runs out as mine runs out this week with halifax and i was told there was nothing i can do once my policy expires and i don't take it out with petwise, i feel if they are compensating some people they should compensate everybody, sorry to rant on but i am soooo mad, just hoping this is the truth and i am not gonna make a complete foul of myself when i phone the customer complaints team up tomorrow and say that i know of 1 person that has been compensated, it would be a cruel joke i no that!!!!0

Can you go into a bit more detail to help others?
When was the operation? When did your policy with Halifax end?
What was the basis that Halifax needed to pay compensation?
Was it Halifax or Agria that paid the compensation?0 -
Helen, everyone is in the same boat and it's sunk for all of us. By all means contact Halifax, but don't hold your breath for a good result.
I don't believe the claim made by the poster above.0 -
I know we are but i feel if some people are getting compensated then they should compensate everybody, i am just trying to do and exhaust every angle for my dog thats all.0

believe what you want but i am a halifax pet insurance customer who has managed to get something sorted out and will help other people in the same position and believe it is totally wrong if halifax are treating customers differently. remarks like what you are posting are of no use to anyone just really annoying0 -

The operation was in july 2009 my policy ended middle of october 2011, I think the basis they have offered compensation is that if my complaint was escalated to the fsa there would be a high risk that the fsa will be in favour of the customer, and compensation is being paid by halifax, i have had no dealings with agria. hope this is helpful.0 -

I apologise.
It seemed strange that a new poster should just rock up and post about how they got x amount paid to them when all I've heard of (up till now) is about how Halifax has just dumped on them (me included).
I will retract my first thoughts now and hope you understand why I posted as I did.
I'm very pleased you managed to get something back from them after the shoddy way they have dealt with us all.
Again, sorry.0 -
Has anybody else on here had any luck with compensation, i had a phone call today from halifax pet insurance where they are based in Portsmouth as i phoned and complained when i got my renewal saying they were ceasing policies this was 3 wks ago and only just got back to me, the man i spoke to practically laughed when i said some people have been offered compensation and i would like to know why everybody hasn't, he said that there was no such thing in place, i was not at all amused by him finding this funny as i expressed to him there is nothing funny about having to consider whether you can afford long term treatment on a 3yr old dog with an incurable skin condition or having to face making the awful decision of having to put him to sleep because you cannot afford to keep him, i am at my wits end0
