Question about 3's exchange policy & android phone recs please!

Hi,

I ordered an iPhone 3gs from 3, on contract, but have now changed my mind! I called the customer services and he said I couldn't exhcange for another phone, all I could do was to send iPhone back, cancel order altogether then place a new order for a new phone. This seems crazy...another credit check etc. Not happy about that at all...I would be looking at the same plan, cheaper phone lol....

I noticed on the websites returns policy that they do actually do a one-time exchange. Not sure what the man I spoke to was talking about. Can anyone clarify?

And also, can anyone recommend an Android phone? I was looking at Samsung Galaxy Ace and Galaxy S...any thoughts?

A long way to go but enjoying the challenge! ;)

Three have very specific policies on returns. They take the view that if you have used it *AT ALL* then the DSR is voided and the device is non returnable. If you've even opened the cellophane wrapper that come on an iPhone then it's classed as used.

If you want to return the phone under the DSR once it's "used" thats down to the compnaies goodwill there is no legal provision for the buyer changing thier mind. Some companies may offer a swap, others such as Three say no but that company policy more than anything else.

It is normal that low-level telephone CS agents are absolutely incompetent. Quote what you see on the website an insist in your call being escalated to someone more competent.

    It's too vague question.

Thank you. I was leaning towards the S anyway. Appreciate your help!

    Then your in luck..

To be honest I'd be returning it and closing that account rather than risking them altering it and mixing something up on it. Cleaner way to do it, and should not be a problem credit wise, as any seach will show a contract was taken out and closed with no problems. You passed one credit check you'll pass again.

Credit searches and credit account records are different and independent records. I don't think that any credit account will be reported in this case...

...but credit search records add up. However, you are probably right and one extra credit search doesn't make a big difference.
