OK so my parents have talktalk dialup and have been having a lot of problems so Dad phoned them up and was passed to a person who could hardly speak English and didnt understand that there was a problem with DIALUP so was again passed to another op,Dad had to explain yet again(4th time)about the problem he was having with DIALUP internet, they said they didnt know what he was talking about and that they DID NOT do DIALUP and put the phone down on him,he tried to get onto his DIALUP internet and lo n behold theyve discontinued his service he cant get onto the net, without letting him know. Also there is no help/contact service for people who do actually have DIALUP from Talktalk. Any ideas or phone numbers would very much be appreciated:)

Your parents can ditch talk talk completely and go for one of the free dial up providers. You pay for these via the telephone call, can be up to about 4p per minute at peak time.
Just google "free dial up internet" and a selection will be shown.
They may have to get a new email address if they go down this route.0 -
Isn't it about time they switched to broadband (assuming that they can get it)? Probably cheaper than a PAYG dial up service, except for a very light user.No free lunch, and no free laptop

debbieblueeyes, my parents are having the same issue but I have emailed the TalkTalk support rather than call them, so will be interesting to see if I get the same answer that you got.
In the meantime I will look at free dialup providers, must admit that I didn't think that anyone would still be doing dial up. Which one did you choose in the end?0 -
Hi All,
If any customers have dial up issues we can pass these on to the relevant department within TalkTalk.
Our contact details can be found in our profile, feel free to contact us detailing the issue and we can pass this on as appropriate.

Mark,
The thing is I have already contacted TalkTalk support and to be honest I have not been impressed.
Firstly after reporting that my parents could access their emails via webmail but not via Outlook Express, the response I got was along the lines of "there is a known webmail issue at the moment". Which was not really helpful. Although maybe my mentioning webmail caused some confusion over the exact nature of the issue.
But when I then report that the issue is now with the dial-up connection and the response I got was something like "sorry to hear that you have a problem with your broadband", it does make you wonder whether TalkTalk support are actually bothering to read and understand the information you are providing.
Anyway I have now raised the issue on the TalkTalk forums as well, so will see what happens.

Hi The Wall,
As advised we can have this investigated by the relevant department for you as to any Dial Up issues. Due to the limited nature of the customers base this is managed by a specialist team, but were more than happy to liaise with them for you. If youve posted on the forum this will be picked up and addressed in due course.
With regards the email issue there is a known incident with Email clients and the @ tiscali.co.uk email addresses. At present this is still under investigation and we await further information. I appreciate this may not be helpful but it is the most recent information we have.
