Isn't my vet fab?

I had my male Bengal kitten castrated this week. Slightly early at just under 5 months old, but he was ready to be done and I didn't want any unfortunate accidents with his sister, who is not going to be spayed for another month or so. She will be done midline so as not to disturb her beautiful fur on her side (not that underneath isn't also beautiful :rotfl:)
Anyway, I digress. So, I had Spot "done" and also micro-chipped at the same time. The cost? £43.03.
What a reasonable price, do you think? How does this compare with your vets?

I had a look at the price board when I was there and for a cat spay it was somewhere around £40. Not sure if they charge more for doing a midline though. Don't forget that Spotty boy was also micro-chipped, which was around £12 - it is on a half price offer at the moment, a bit like going to Sainbury's :rotfl: I think it was something like £30+pennies for the castration and £12+pennies for the chip0 -
I need to move to Shropshire then! My vet charged £250 recently just to keep my cat overnight on a drip. No treatment as such, and no conclusive diagnosis either.
You never meet a poor vet.0 -

That sounds very reasonable!
I'm not up on the cost of getting cats done but micro-chipping alone tends to run to £20 where I am!0 -

Wow. That is huge, I hope puss is insured? My Friday cat broke her leg about three or four years ago. She came home one Sunday evening at about 8-ish, with an obviously damaged leg. Phoned the emergency vet number straight away, took her to the practice (same one as normal), she was kept in overnight, anaethesised (sp?) the next day, had x-rays and a cast put on, plus painkiller injections etc. For ALL of that, the charge was £120.
Like I say, my vet is FAB0 -

mine who are very expensive normally have a special offer on at the moment £20 castrate and £30 castrate and chip. This really makes me laugh as a basic consultation is £30Mad Mum to 3 wonderful children, 2 foster kittens and 2 big fat cats that never made it to a new home!
Aiming to loose 56 pounds this year. Total to date 44.5 pounds 12.5 to go. Slimming World Rocks!0 -
I was just over £30 when our cat was neutered and microchipped in August - to be fair a lot of vets round us are very competitive with their stock-in-trade work. My guinea pig, when he was done, was more expensive, but not by much. The RSPCA sent us a discount voucher for both operations on request, so I got £15 off the costs on both occasions.0
