Missing Drivers, Unable to Connect to Internet

The only suggestion I have is to go on your son’s comp and try to download drivers for the old comp, put them on a disc or memory stick and take them to old comp. I think you‘ll need make and serial numbers of comp and motherboard etc.
Thanks for the suggestion but the problem is I can't find the drivers using the motherboard info I have! I can download them using my pc onto a mem stick but I need to find them first!
Not even sure if that's whats causing the problem though....maybe I need to find a hammer :rotfl: 0 -

The C51-MCP51 appears to be the nforce chipset on the motherboard. You can download the driver from http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?cc=uk&lc=en&dlc=en&softwareitem=ob-41728-1
To find your motherboard model, look on the side of the last card slot. You'll probably need a torch to see it. As others have said, if it's Gigabyte, it'll probably start with GA-.
If you can't get the drivers then you can disable the onboard LAN in the BIOS and buy a cheap PCI LAN card which will come with a driver disk from Maplin for £8 and use that instead. This assumes that you have a free PCI slot.
Alternatively, if you have a wireless network, you can get a cheap USB wireless adapter from Maplin or somewhere for around £15 and bypass the wired LAN altogether.
And no, I don't work for Maplin. Feel free to shop around

TakeThis and Jai_M ...... now I feel really silly, I actually blushed when I read your replies
. I'm normally really good at searching these things out and I'm still not sure how you found them from the info I had but thank you, thank you
I will try that now and fingers crossed it will work!
PS. I was replying to another post while you were replying to mine so it made me look even more daft!0 -

Have you got any operating disks & what are you using?
Vista will normally find or ask for drivers for any new hardware so removing drivers that seem not to be working then re-booting will re-install stuff for you. If not it should ask for the missing drivers so you will know exactly what to look for.Truth always poses doubts & questions. The 1394 or "firewire" was a way of file transfer and is common on camcorders . . . but is not an internet/router connection.
In network connections are there any other connections shown ?
