I have the tefal actifry and I love it. I use it mainly for chips but it can cook any meat/poultry, stews, spag bol etc too. I hope someone will be along soon who has tried them bothThe Cabbage

Can't help with the phillips either as we have an actifryer. We do skin on chips which are fantastic and roast potatoes, even my parents who are goose fat fanatics for roast potatoes love them! My dad goes mad for all the scraps bits! Also potato wedges are lovely. We haven't tried anything else in it really.0

Thank you both for replying, I am hoping that someone can comment on the Philips Airfryer too, I can get either at around the same price with about a £20 of a difference. So, just looking at which one would be best for mum and dad, thanks for your help at the moment xx0

I've got the Actifry which is fantastic. I use it for everything I would usually fry - except fried eggs!- or stew/roast.
I know that Ideal World sell both so you could have a look at the reviews on that site - although you may well find them cheaper elsewhere.0 -
We've owned a Tefal Actifry for a couple of years and as many owners will attest, they are great to use but very poorly constructed.
Common weaknesses are the plastic lid and the paddle breaking which Tefal will replace FOC while still in guarantee, also the non stick pan coating is thin and food starts to stick after a few months use. I'll also never understand why they fitted the worlds quietest beeper which you can barely hear over the fan noise and it will carry on cooking until it self destructs or is turned off manually.
As the lid is currently weighted down so we can still use ours, and we've some Amazon vouchers due, we will be getting an Airfryer as a replacement, although we're going to miss our Actifried sausages/stir-fries"We could say the government spends like drunken sailors, but that would be unfair to drunken sailors, because the sailors are spending their own money."

Jodi, I have the actifry and love it. It cooks all sorts of things (the pineapple chickeny recipe in the book that comes with it is yum)
The thing I also love about it is that it is really easy to clean and the bits can go in the dishwasher. I haven't tried the air fryer but it might be a good idea to go to a shop that sells it and see how easy it is to dismantle and clean. The main reason I bought the actifry is that I hated the guey way a deep fat fryer gets in use. The chips though are a bonus as they are far better than any I cooked in the old fryer.
Also the actifry is very light - check the weight of the other one. I have a bit of joint trouble and it is great to get in and out of the cupboard.0 -
Another vote for the actifry. It really is one of those gadgets that you wonder how you did without. Chips, wedges, roasties, roasted veg all come out brilliantly and are just as crisp and tasty as the oven ones. We are losing weight as well, slowly but it's got us making a few other changes as well and it all helps.
Going back to find the recipe for that pineapple chicken. it sounds yum."A savoury muffin?? As if life wasn't disappointing enough!" Miranda0 -

Hi,
Yes I will have to check the weight between the two and find out just how heavy it is. Thanks for your help. xx0 -
