how do I get smileys in my text??? (merged)

Have been on a thread in money saving oldstyle and asked them about hoe to get smileys in my text.
A couple of people gave me advice but I still cannot get any of these symbols to appear where I want to in my text.
It does not work if I cut and paste and I can't find them when I go on the post reply section.

Any help greatly received but keep it simple as I am so not techie!!

As you're typing, click on the smiley you want to insert--like this-- :T and you'll find it's simple. I'm not techie either! :beer:

still confused though have just learnt I can put one in by writing a word:_eek_: works but not sure what you are saying Margaret sorry!!

quick links.........under your name at the top

edit options........then scroll to the bottom and change the last option to 'enhanced interface


then your smillie symbol will be above your reply box,click to open and pick a smillie;)

They should be over in the right hand side as you're typing.
I think there could well be something wrong with your settings if you're not seeing them.
Send a pm to one of the board moderators or to someone who has been on a long time like edinburghlass or foxy.

furrypig, you need to go into your control panel, on the band along the top marked UserCP. Go to edit options and there you will find a lot of options that you can change to personalise your viewing of the forums. At the bottom you will find Misc Options, change this one to Enhanced mode and remember to save changes at the bottom.

This means the box you reply in will now have two rows of options along the top of it and one of them is a white smillie face, click on this drop down arrow and there you will find the selection of smillie faces that you can use in your post :beer:

ps, while you are in your UserCP you can delete your signature if its not yours! :rotfl:

Another useful tip in the Edit Options is the forum default is to view 10 posts per page, you can change this to view 40 posts per page
