colinw wrote:Still waiting for the card however I did recieve some Credit Card Cheques off them today. They did say I should get my card in days. Again the letter stated some BT's might be charged (£2 min, £35max) although most people on here have said the oringinal BT and SBT is free. Still if I have to pay £35 it is not so bad.
I've just applied for the Virgin card today over the phone. What's the deal with these credit card cheques - never used one before. I thought you rang up and did it over the phone? Virgin assured me that there was no fee AT ANY TIME IN THE 0% PERIOD for balance transfers or for using the credit card cheques. The rep even said it was just like a "cash advance"!!!!! ALARM BELLS RINGING HERE!!!
Have to say it wasn't an easy application.
With it being my first stooze I had lots of questions. Firstly, the girl completing my application said that the minimum payment would be 2.25% of the outstanding balance. I argued that I'd been told £5. She went to speak with someone who knew what they were doing, and came back and told me I was right all along!
Should I be concerned?

Don't worry about your Virgin Card. I did the SBT over the phone before I actually got my card. There is definitly no charge for the transfer and one of the options on the automated phone system is to transfer money to your current account. I would advise you not to use the cheques to do the transfer. The only thing I did use the cheques for as they came before the card was to get the account number off as this was needed when ringing up to do the SBT. The min payment is indeed £5. They also offered me the option of doing a SBT worth 100% ofmy credit limit but I declined and did about 98%.
Good Luck and happy stoozing.0 -
What is the best way to apply for the Virgin card, over the phone or via their website?
Does anyone know how long a Virgin CC SBT takes to go through? How long would I have to wait before phoning them to arrange the SBT? [Provided I'm accepted of course]
Thanks.Please call me 'Kazza'.0 -
I applied over the web. The initial reply was quite good but the actual card took about 3 weeks to come. The excuse they give was that they had run out of the black coloured card which I had ordered. They eventually sent me a red card. I did the SBT over the phone on a Saturday night and the money was in my account by the Thursday morning which is not bad.0

Yes I would avoid the Cheques. Actually when I rung up to do the SBT the first recordred message advised you to use the Cheques if you wanted to transfer money to another institution which was bit naughty. Anyway ignore them and do a norma SBT which will be charge free.0
