    Woooo!

I was/am and always have been very happy with XP. I started using Linux via dual boot, just to have something to tinker with, out of curiosity etc.., but ended up really liking it, hence the switch.

I still use and need Windows though.

I'm using Kubuntu for exactly the the same reasons. :j

I would say that I think Ubuntu is better suited to people who are very comfortable using XP as it requires tinkering and configuration that would be beyond most computer newbies.

Spot on there. It's not quite "Linux for human beings" just yet. There's still an element of configuring, online guides etc... and commitment/time.

I too am a developer. Moved away from PHP over a year ago now though, to .Net hence still need and prefer to use Windows for development (via VMWare in Ubuntu though!). I think I still find Windows better with regards to development, graphics (namely Adobe), gaming (obviously) and a few unique apps (EAC, CoreTemp, AutoGK), but apart from those, am very happy with Linux.

I still use and like Windows XP a lot though (at work). Really hoping they push us up to Vista, as they're upgrading us to Office 2007 (and Sharepoint 2007... very impressed by it). I've only used the beta and RC1, but did like it.

OS X is the only OS I've not really liked, or adapted to. Mainly the interface, and huge amount of short-cut keys, but I guess that comes in time.

    Hi
    My primary OS is Ubuntu.
For secondary OS I've just ditched Windows 98 and installed a hassle-free Windows 2000 (which will be supported by M$ till at least year 2010).

Hello, I'm another Ubuntu user. Partly because it's free, partly because I like the look and feel. 6.06 was so much better than the previous version and I hope another year of development will make it even easier for people like me who are still a bit scared of the command line. If I'm honest, I still find Windows easier to manage and fix, but that's only really because that's what I've had to use for the last 15 or so years!

I find the trouble with Linux is that it does run stuff like ISP software or run my USB modem, so I find not very useful for that reason.

I always liked Windows 95, but plug and play from 98 made it very limited.

I have XP but I dont think it is great.

Yeah linux is still a bit picky with some ubs devices like modems, tv adapters. There's probably a How-To out there or someone with the same problem, you just need to find the fix.

No love for XP. I think it's by far the best Windows OS. 2000 is good, but more workstation orientated and a little dated. If there's stuff you don't like in XP have a look at something like nLite. You can strip out inbuilt things, and add in apps, service packs etc.. that you like. Makes it so much lighter.
