Warning Stealing Money From Bank Account

Blavatsky

I've just noticed an unauthorised debit (£800 odd) from my bank account
"Jacobs 0151 6910100 Withdrawal".
I googled around and the number is the old telephone number of the legitimate Jacobs bailiffs who did have this number when they were at 120 Victoria Road Wirral.I rang a nearby hotel and the owner seemed to think the property is currently empty so if this is the case I can only assume someone must have been able to access the property for post and use the address in order to set up an acoount in the name of Jacobs and somehow obtained my card my number to request payment to Jacobs.
Shelter even list empty properties in every Borough which doesn't help if scamsters use the info.
My understanding is that thebank have to refund me now and they should investigate.Beware ! _pale_

Here's the latest reply from Jacobs:-
"
Thank you for your email regarding the unauthorised payment of £846.71 on 3rd October 2011.
We confirm this payment was made to Jacobs by debit card on 30th September 2011.
If you did not participate in this payment we advise that you contact your card company to request a chargeback.
They will then request from Jacobs a full chargeback which will be made direct to your account.
If you have any queries relating to this matter please do not hesitate to contact this office.

I bet Jacobs never checked the card address.0 -
have you ever had a council tax dept or parking ticket
i would go to the police
Jacobs should know who (what bailiff) took the payment or if the payment was paid using there on -line payment facility
whose debt the payment was credited toI am not an expert I am self taught i have no legal training any information I post is based on my own personal experience and information gained from other web sites
If you are in any doubt please seek legal/expert advice help0 -

Police are a waste of time here as is actionfraud and the others.
Basicaly you need to go and raise a complaint with the bank as its fraud and push for a full refund a.s.a.p,
Keep a total of all additional cost's incurred as well and then once its all sorted and refunded give the bank any additional cost's to attempt to claim back.0 -

totally agree with you however there must be a bailiff involved (and i don't mean in the fraud) Jacobs will know what account number the payment was credited to if the payment was taken by a bailiff they will know what bailiff took the payment
if the payment was made on-line after the bailiff left a letter at the debtors home who then used the card to make payment they will know who's debt the payment was credited to you cant make an on-line payment to Jacobs without a ref numberI am not an expert I am self taught i have no legal training any information I post is based on my own personal experience and information gained from other web sites

If it were me personaly I would have it out with Jacobs myself and want all the info they have, after all its the OP'S card so he/she has every right to full details of the payment and account it was for.0 -
If you have ever made a part-payment to Jacobs for a debt using your debit card they can take payment for the rest of the debt using that same card, there is something in the small print. I had something similar a few years ago where I couldnt afford to pay the whole amount so agreed to make a small payment using my debit card to stop them entering my home and get them off my back for a while as I tried to get on my feet, a few weeks later they tried to take the full amount out of my account fortunately I didnt have that much money in there at the time.. but I took advise and cancelled my debit card so that they could not try and take it again.0

I've never thankfully been involved in any way with Jacobs but I am intrigued how they could just process the payment from one of their debtors using my card.
Surely they need the card holders address to make the payment work or maybe the fraudsters do know,my address as well.We all know that creditiors never look a gift horse in the mouth and I suppose are prepared to take the payment without going through a detailed ID check so they only require the long number card date and sercuity code on the back.
If Nationwide haven't credited me by now they will get a roasting.0
