Zone alarm pro is usually a better programme to run networking with than the free download, although when first setting up networks its a good idea to disable it on both pc's to begin with if they work then you know you have to set it up to accept the connection.

Incidently i read in computeractive mag (this weeks) about wireless networking today, beware of cordless phones and microwaves which decrease the connection lengths.
  • Ye Cordless phones & Equipment running at 2.4Ghz can interupt 802.11b wireless signals, but not 802.11a which runs at 5Ghz =)

Zonealarm can be very annoying when setting up networks, so avoid it like Cee said for the moment.

Thanks to everyone for their help. I have now finally got my home network up and running, after reading every article ever posted about networking and after paying for a so called expert to have a look at it for me. So what was the problem I hear you ask. Answer..Zonealarm pro. I had disabled zonealarm on my main PC and still I couldn't connect, but I had forgot I had an older version on my other PC so when I finally disabled it away I went!
Moral of the story: when people tell you to disable zonealarm make sure every version is disabled. ;D
