Final thought I have also seem friends have 1 kitten then a year later get a second one but they never seem to get on as well as siblings who are homed together.

Will second that - my old cat was a single cat and quite happy that way (lived in a tiny flat in the city and he'd been an "only" cat before I rehomed him).

When I moved to the farm and there happened to be a litter of kittens around;), Archie arrived. They got on OK and I've a few pics of them together but they weren't "close".

Fast forward a few years and old cat sadly went to rainbow bridge and other cat lonely (think he really missed the company) and along came another litter of kittens and .....;)

But .... they tolerate each other - and that's on a good day - my house is often like a war zone and it can be extremely stressful.

So .... if you can, I'd suggest 2 as well :)

Yup, Jojo and Eastendlass are under obligation to keep everyone updated with photos... ;)

Jojo is taking one (or so she says....LOL) Eastenedlass either 2 kitties or Lucy and a baby - I have a feeling she will see Lucy and decided on Lucy plus a baby as Lucy is a kitten herself and so absolutely sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet... with a baby u never know what little horror is going to grow out of it and with Lucy it is so clear.. went there yesterday for a moment as managed to grab a friend with a car so took Teddy for vaccinations to CH and after poped in to check on Lucy and babies - Lucy absolutely runs to anyone that goes in there and demands cuddles, jumps on your lap and is a total lap cat herself and so tiney... PLUS - Lucy will be spayed before being rehomed so it is a major future expense sorted :D

Friend of a friend (trusted cat mad) wants one kitten but as I said before, would prefer to dind 2 homes where kitties can go in pairs rather than as an only single kitten.. so will see....

OK - got a question as did not have kittens for a longggggggggggggggg time so.....

When shall we start putting them in the litter box so they can start to learn?

I know about starting to feed them a bit of kitty food from 4-5 weeks but not sure about toilet?

That is fine Spike - I know nothing outside London and even worse, outside East London...

Funny stupid thing happened once, embarassed but WILL tell.....

Was coming back from my daughter's, locals will know - got off at Hollow Ponds which I by WX HOspital thinking will walk the rest home as Zara was with me so wanted to give her a nice walk.... Took me usual 20 min to Greenman Roundabout through woods/fields (but seeing the main road, kind of paralell), went under the roundabout, came out on other side and instead of sticking to keeping the road to my side so I can see it... this would take me 15 min max to get home - though hey.. gonna have a SHORTCUT through woods thinking diagonally will be faster....

45 min later, having no idea where I was had to admit complete failure and shout out "Zara - home".. to which my poor dog looked at me like to say... you human idiot, you got no nose... ???and she walked me out of the woods onto the main road near where we live....

Yup, me THAT bad.... no sense of direction/location whatsoever... one of the reasons I never learnt to drive.. another one is that even as a passenger I close my eyes on roundabouts.. could not do it if I was driving, could I?

    :(
  • Mum will do litter training. Put a litter tray near them and mum will go and they will copy. Can they all see now and are they getting out of the nest?

All eyes are open now, they wriggle around but not getting out yet - they were 2 weeks old yesterday and wobbly on their tinely legs....

The box where their nest is in got quite high sides though, thought it was better when they are little - they cant really get out of it yet.
Lucy's litter tray is very high.

Will need to change the box where their nest is for a lower one and get a low sides litter tray - when shall we do it?

Will also need to get some non clumping cat litter for the babies, heard clumping one is no good for them and we use clumping for the cats.... will get some wood based for the babies or other non clumping one...

    Thanks a lot....
  • I'd do it in the next week - by making up a new box and putting it nearby - if Lucy fancies the idea, she'll most likely do the move herself.

If not done in two more days, I'd move them myself as she watches - all of them, so she can't dash backwards and forwards returning just one, and then take the old box away. She's a smart girl, I'm sure she'll get the idea without panicking.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.
