Mention your companies name on facebook...think twice!

To be honest is it really necessary to tell people if you have had a good or bad day, and if it is can you not just ring them?
If someone writes that a company is bad to work for then clearly it creates perceptions for other people, and isn't something an organisation would want you to document. It is always something that will get people into trouble. Any comment about work, whether naming the company or not, whether overtly negative or just an observation, is always running the risk of trouble...... best avoided!!
I find telling my dog is useful. He never repeats anything I say. But the cat is useless because she doesn't listen!0 -

I know one company does not allow their name to be mentioned or linked to employees on Facebook and yet called a member of staff into a meeting when they got back from holiday as they had put on their status about being on holiday abroad and that didn't match the records in the firm (due to a mistake - I think they were down as sick leave). So even though the person had their settings set to friends only the company were monitoring it somehow.0

Theres a girl I know, lost her job recently... got a temp job where I worked, fizzled out... got a job elsewhere but she didnt get on with any of the people there... applied again where i worked, interview but no luck... lost her next job after two days... looking again
Shes always on Facebook:
'I hate the people I work with'
'Smelly lying two faced !!!!s'
'Crap job'
'Why didnt I get a job at (My old workplace) what a bunch of rotters!!!' (After the FIRST interview, bearing in mind a second occured for a different role later)
Do you see the potential problem?
Work and Facebook dont mix. I never post about my work activities on FB. !!!!!!! myself off over Ruth Madoc pics with a string of onions up my !!!!? Ill post about that, but never ANYTHING work.0 -
dont use your real name on FB... simples
As SarEl explained a few posts back that is really not enough. It is much easier than most people think to work out who is behind an anonymous ID.
I don't use Facebook but, as I understand it, unless all your friends on there are "virtual" (i.e you have no contact at all with them in real life) they will know where you work, live, play etc etc. They may well not be as discrete as you would expect and there is always the danger of falling out!0 -
most places these days are amending handbooks & contracts to ensure you abide by the rules on using Social Networking - it's just not a wise move, if you gotta moan about something like SarEl pointed out either do it to something like a pet or to a reliable family member at worst, never ever post it on Facebook or any forums - it's just not worth the risks.Retired member - fed up with the general tone of the place.0

This is why anonymous forums like MSE is far more powerful than rubbish sites like Facebook.
When people say anonymously they have nothing to fear. Facebook is good place for bullying.Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.0 -

Unfortunately, it's not as anonymous as you think. I got a PM a while back saying 'you are XXX and I claim my £5'. And they were right. If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0
