They would and I'm now 99% certain that MSPA registered mystery shopping providers should not permit this.
I'm in touch with the MSPA about it and am waiting to hear back from them but there is a section of the guidance which basically says that staff should not be able to identify MSers unless the brief specifically states you will need to reveal yourself as part of the job.

So even if the brief say they might use CCTV of the shop to train future staff, they are technically not allowed to do this if the MSer did not identify himself or herself before or after the assignment?

Toooo quiet on the job front! Especially as I have just found out that as from the end of December, I have been made redundant from my full time job of ten years. :( Can someone please assure me that thing will pick up after christmas?!!!?!?!!!

Awww angel face, so sorry to hear that. Apparently ms'ing goes back into full throttle after Xmas, so good luck. I'm sure there will be lots of other full time jobs going too, after all you have been doing your current job for 10 years, you are obviously a good worker. Keep your chin up sweetie.

I am taking so much time to prepare for each assignment right now, I take on average 1.5 hours just on preparing for the assignment and writing of the report. I hope I can significantly reduce this time soon...

Just came across another interesting phrase in a brief about how the sales persons will have part of their pay based my report, it is "not necessary to point out the important of being extremely fair and objective in reporting your visit". So in other words, I guess they would like me not to be picky and be lenient in my grading?

They mean read the guidelines thoroughly and do everything correctly. If there is anything they fail on you need to be absolutely sure that was the case. :)

MSer should always be accurate when writing up the reports but they explicitly said "not necessary" and that's the confusing part.

By 'not necessary to point out the importance etc' it means it isn't necessary to point it out because it should be blatantly obvious it is very very important!!

I guess, in general, I now know what they are trying to say.

Edit: But its darn confusing. The use of 'not' was probably a typo because 'necessary to point out the importance' and 'not necessary to point out the importance' mean two different things!

By using the word 'not', they are emphasising the fact that they expect that you already know the importance, and it would therefore by insulting to your intelligence to have to point it out again. Not a typo.

Poorly worded... RE Proof readers would have jumped all over that. :)

  • Hi all,

As you guys know I'm still new to this MS malarkey even though I feel like I've known you all for years (wipes away tears).. anyway. Has anybody had much experience of the Car showroom visits? Do you end up getting caught in the sales patter even though it says thats not what your'e there for.

I am hard nosed enough to say I just need a price please or I could always say I'll keep the horse.

    Thanks
