Belmont Thornton - lack of help !!

Last week I received two cheques from firstplus for mis-sold PPI, they told me that if I had gone through a claims company I would have to pay them their fee direct. The problem is other than initially giving them the rights to take my case on and them accepting, 'Belmont Thornton' have not made any more contact , apart from 1 letter asking if I had any more PPIs !! Therefore i dont have any contact details for them. All other contact other than the initial letter that they sent to firstplus (which was probably a template from this site lol) has been between myself and firstplus direct. The offer from firstplus was sent to me direct to which I replied myself (with no acknowledgement letter from Belmont Thornton) then they sent the cheques directly to me (again with no contact from Belmont Thornton) this was well over two weeks ago and I am unsure what to do now about their fee. I cant remember how much of a percentage they said it would be and as I said I don't have any contact details for them , plus I really can't see what they have actually done anyway. Can anybody help me with this dilemma ?? I really don't see why I should have to run around chasing them to pay them when they haven't done anything for me. Please advise !!!

Hate to say it but "kiss goodbye to at least 30% + vat" all these companies have to do is lodge your complaint on your behalf using exactly the same type of questionnaire you could have sent yourself from here and then they only have to sit back and wait without doing any further leg work. If they lodge your complaint they will be informed by the bank of any payout even if the bank have dealt direct with yourself. It might appear that they haven't done anything to earn it but that's just it, they don't have to, other than send your complaint in  and the charge they make for that is bordering on criminal

Hi there and well done on your win with FP.
Just to let you know,if the loan is still running,Belmont Thornton will take the fee on the whole of the ppi and not just the redress you got paid back, they will look on this as having saved you money for the ppi that will be taken off the loan.
If i were you,if you get a bill from them, negotiate the payment and ask what they did that warrants the fee and you want a breakdown of what they actually did, from what you said you have had no contact or response from them after you signed the contract and you did the claim yourself,if they get stroppy, then tell them you will report them to these.

They have done no work and sit back and take a fee plus vat,it is disgusting.
If they had kept you informed it wouldnt be so bad,but to have no contact only to ask if you have more ppi to claim is ludicrous.
To be fair though,FP ppi is an easy claim to make,no wonder they did not contact you.
Give them hell and let us know how you get on.0 -
Just put a post about Brunel Franklin on this thread which may help. It's quite long so I am not typing it out again!0

I too signed with Belmont Thornton..as advised to by Lloyds TSB.
Do I have a claim against the Bank for mis-advise as I don't beleive Belmont Thornton did anything to hasten the PPI re claims as the Bank said they (B T ) would.? I have written to Belmont Thornton to ask what
they did for PPI claims success.0 -
i used belmont thornton. when i realised they did nothing except use the ombudsman i refused to pay them. this is still on going, i will never pay them. check their terms and conditions. they say thay will deall with it. this is grossley missleading. since all the publicity recently they have changed theit terms and conditions. ie quote... i/we give belmont thornton full authority to refer your claim to the ombudsman if this is beleived to be in your best interest. unquote. they are conning everybody just as the banks did.and now trying to cover themselves. do not pay them. they should pay back everybody that has allready paid them' inc compensation and interest.0
