Brunel Franklin

what a good advert claim your money back on your ppi on the radio i heard, from brunel franklin.

so i spoke to a guy from BF and he said if we think that your case is worth following up we will contact you, we send them all the details
we offer to pay them £400 per case, to take the cases to court. oh yes they say on the phone no problem we will win in court.

2 years later no contact from them (ive just chased them up) and no they cant do anymore as the solicitor they put it with has now refused it, and because they put it with a solicitor in the first place you dont get your money back..

not bad eh! £400 when they said if it doesnt go to court you'll get your money back.....

yeh right!

Hi, What do your terms and conditions say with your contract to Brunel?
  • No doubt (if i could find them) they probably say, that if the claim is passed on to a solicitor then you can't claim your money back

thats what the snotty woman at brunel just said

£400 quids not bad for a referral fee.

    we live and learn

But surely for it to be passed to a solicitor it should have "passed" something in that you actually had a claim? Was this for claiming back just the PPI or was it "Other" things too???
  • At the time they said on the radio if you had ppi and didnt know about it you could claim it back, or get the loan defaulted, they took copies of the loan agreements and said yes they could go ahead, and we should pay our money,

Now there saying we only paid one £400 not 2 for 2 cases and that because we havent returned their letters both cases are now closed.
1 solicitor said there was nothing they could do and 1 other case is in the hands of MJP solicitors as they have the case details from the Dures partnership but they wont or cant do nothnig about it.

they say it was also in our contracts that the money wouldnt be returned if it WAS passed onto a solicitor and whether or not they went ahead with it or not was up to them, BF were now out of the loop so to speak.

Great Idea i think especially if some of the papers we signed were insurance documents to cover losses in case a claim didnt make it to court BF then cant lose. and they dont need to give the original £400 back which could fund the insurances.

What gets me is they never kept us in the Loop over what was happening and but for me ringing today we would think they were still taking the cases to court

anyway its made the boss of BF a very rich man or men i hope they sleep well at night

  • my advice dont touch brunel franklin with a barge pole they do nothing to earn there money but when you owe them money they will hound you to death beware conmen
  • I have just concluded a claim for mis-sold payment protection with Brunel Franklin. It’s true that they didn’t take any fees up front , their fee being 25% of whatever I was awarded. What wasn’t made clear was it would be 25% of the entire amount of PPI I was mis-sold, not the amount I was to get back in compensation. In this instance I was mis-sold PPI of over £6,000 and was awarded just over £3,000 compensation (good will payment). Brunel Franklin took their 25% plus VAT from the £6,000 – approx. £1,800. I accept the responsibility was mine to check the agreement I was signing with them and would urge anyone looking to deal with them to scrutinise the small print and ask lots of questions.

Have a look at my post on this thread.

It gives reasons why you might be able to complain about any claims management company.
  • Brunel Franklin is a founder member of the Association of Professional:rotfl: Claims Managers.

It has a code of conduct which includes:

It must be no win no fee

A maximum up front fee of £20 which is refundable if unsuccessful

Maximum fee of 29% of redress achieved (29% of nothing is nothing)
Unless an offer is received before the end of the cancellation fee the maximum they can charge for cancelling is £300.

This association was only launched in August but I suggest a complaint on these lines might be fruitful.

Now, THAT'S an oxymoron if ever I saw one!
