Well I may not be the best person to ask as I struggle to buy for my family every year. I did get a tie at the weekend courtesy of a heads up from MSE which cost me the price of a paper but is apparently worth £65! I don't know who you have to buy for but I'm going to have a look in Tesco's later on today as they have some cashmere jumpers for £25 and is the sort of thing my dad would like. I am thinking of getting something for my sisters new house for her and my brother in law but not sure what yet, maybe a blu ray player. It is my mums birthday on the 29th as well so that is at least 2 presents I have to get her, when I'm struggling to think of 1! I got her what I thought would be a great present one year, it was a foot spa, I think I saw her use it once maybe twice!

Ha ha. I got my mum and dad a foot spa for their anniversary one year. Its currently sitting in my junk cupboard.

My brother is now sorted. Got him a freezer £30 over budget.
My other brother and his g/f. Stuck. They have everything they want. or they have the money to go and get it.

My dad I think I'll just get DVD's. I would get him a jumper but I steal them all and thats like giveing a present with the understanding I'll be stealing it later!

    Ok. I've got it figured.

Going shopping tonight with my mum armed with a whole load of vouchers and MOC and gift card vouchers.
I did the tesco into Goldsmith Vouchers so will use them to buy for my aunt, my brother and maybe HM as he's said he's got me something :-(

My mum can pick her own present and I'll get her some smellies as well.
My dad is getting golf lessons, Not really good for money saving for my op as I cant use cash back sites or earn loyalty points but he'll like them.
Brother 1) dvds of his choice and maybe something from Goldsmiths
Brother 2) lucky he's getting anything else after the freezer but will get him something to open on his birthday and christmas day.
My nana, some small smellies. she's tiny and doenst like big things and has alzheimers (sp) so wont remember anyway. Maybe also a hand made christmas card with a photo of us on it that was taken last christmas.

Jobs done, well should be by 9pm tonight and all for under £100 I hope, not including the vouchers.

So did it all go to plan then?

Still haven't finished my shopping yet but now know what I am going to get everyone, so I guess you could say it is all in hand!

Had a phone call from one of the betting companies that I use the other day saying that I had won a PS3 and a game, didn't know if it was legit or not but it turned out it was and now have it sitting in my living room! Not sure if I'm going to keep it or not yet, could sell it and use it as an OP!

Do you have a ps3 or a gaming consol? I'd be tempted to use it. I know its not very MSE but they make excellent media centers and are the best value blue ray players around.

Its still not going to plan. But hopefully I'll get my backside in gear and get sorted by the end of the week.

Still planning to get an OP in by the end of January!

The PS3 that I won is the only console that I have and I haven't played it in about a week now. I already have a blu ray player but my mate said, like you that it is good to use as a storage device so I am still not sure what I am going to do with it.

Yeah I am still hoping to make an OP in Jan which will hopefully be helped by my annual alcohol detox for Jan.

Back once again (with a renegade master....)

I *may* have left this a little bit too long.

So another year starts, but this year has already started differently.
No hang over (stayed in and watched films with no booze)
Didnt spend a fortune on Christmas and NY or Booze.

I'd hoped to make my first OP this month which will still be the plan but I dont think it'll happen. would rather have it as the plan though and work towards saving/ making the money instead of just admitting that it wont happen and just not be careful.

I hope everyone had a great Christmas or time off work if thats not your thing.

Bring on 2012 and all the exciting times it may/ should bring!

So I checked my acc for the first time after convincing myself I was stupidly broke.

I had over £300 in there. This might not sound much to some but I got paid on the 16th Dec and only usually have about £450 left for everything else after bills so I think I did ok.

Problem is is that its burning a hole in my pocket. I've done well so far. I've not got take away for dinner which is the usual treat. I've got exams next week so am trying to convince myself to stay in and revise.

Will treat myself to something next weekend though. Living like a saint recently and its really not in my nature!

Will still aim to get the £500 but not sure when I'll pay that off. I want to still have a life and do stuff whilst paying my mortgage, saving and trying to OP.

Does anyone else have anything that they like to do for free/ cheap as a treat for times when they struggle?
