    Hi Bacon,

I've just been over and printed it all off and will read it tonight.

Give Martin his dues he has made it very clear that there is a risk that it could be addictive.

I agree that there is a risk. I think my plan is to read, read and read and then in that time I should have made an extra £40 on ebay and will use that.

If things are super tight then I wouldnt have tried it. I want to make sure that I know what I'm doing and then with money in theory that I can afford to lose.

If done correctly you make an equal profit whatever the outcome so in that sense it is risk free. The risk can come if a bookie for some reason cancels your bet (which has never happened to me) or they are a rogue book that doesn't pay out your winnings (such books you will be highlighted to steer clear of) or human error that you back the wrong team or the odds move against you at the exchange (usually a big problem doing this just before the start of the event). When you are starting out, if you take your time and have things checked over these shouldn't be an issue.

I do agree though that you should only bet with money that you can afford to lose should the unthinkable happen. I will admit that I have made mistakes which have cost me money in the short term but as I said in my previous post I have so far made a profit of around £3000 a year even with these mistakes.

So as far as the technique of matched betting goes it is risk free there are other factors which, however unlikely they are don't make it strictly risk free.

Lord. Guess what I'm going to be reading up on tonight then!

Will also be using music magpie to shift some cd's that have been sitting in the living room still in the box from the big move (april time...)

Sent mine off to MM at the end of last week but still waiting for confirmation that they have received it. Said it could take up to 10 days.

My spare bedroom is fully of stuff that I need to sort out, don't think there is anything worth selling in amongst it unfortunately!

My spare room is now filled with a boy :-(

I have so much stuff that I could sell still and I just dont know how to or where the best place is.

I want to stop selling on ebay by the 2nd week of december. as there is so much hassle with the post i dont think I could cope!

Will aim to list 5 things tonight though and sign up to MM.

Am thinking about braving it and doing a carboot and making myself into a pound stall. Everything £1. No offers, no deals, no discounts.

    Bad idea or good idea?

  • I think the pound store idea is a great one. But I suspect, with certain items, you will need to price a number of items all for a pound.

Small things like that I'd probably just give to a charity shop.

I need to think about it I think. I've got books and t-shirts etc. but nothing that I could bundle into £1 packages.

Its something I could work on though as an early idea and work in progress.

That boy is paying you a nice bit of money every month though so has to be better than a room full on junk!

As for the car boot I have never done one but I don't see why a £1 stall wouldn't work. Everyone will know where they stand then!

    That is true.

Ok.... I'll admit it. a boy has finally proved to be more useful than junk! ;-)

I might see what rubbish I can get together. I'd only have to sell 10 things to have covered my pitch price. Just got to be ready for 'will you take 20p....'

You can't say that! Plus you know that isn't true, we are always helpful, well when we can drag ourselves away from the pub or the football that is!

I have heard that people can be very fussy at car boots and you should brace yourself for them to try and knock you down on price. I guess you will have to see how it goes and if you aren't doing too well them maybe you will have to take offers.
