Can someone give me a bit of advice. recently paid £7000 for new engine and last week driving along when out of the blue something rattles and al power dies. Car back in garage, without doing anything to car they are saying the turbo has blown and wrecked engine so would mean new engine (AGAIN) and new turbo. Can a blown turbo really wreck an engine that bad?

The biggest things that can cause engine damage in a car with a turbo are drivers. Turbo cars require nothing less than premium fuel, and if you don't use premium, it can cause damage from detonation. Also, if something goes wrong, and it makes too much boost, it can cause engine failure. Also, must be right on schedule with oil changes and other maintenance

surely you would have had a warranty with the new engine.

I would of thought at £7000.00 they should have checked the Turbo out and pressume this is a brand new engine in which case surely they cannot pass you on another bill for another new engine.

There is a warranty with it but by saying it's the turbo that's caused the problem this time I'm wondering if that's their way of getting out of it?

I think I would be more than unhappy at the thoughts of paying out 7k twice,

Even if the turbo caused the damage, they owed you a duty of care. An independent report might be able to say whether the garage should reasonably have noticed that the turbo was close to failing.

What car is it? Age, mileage etc...

Also what caused the engine to fail last time and why £7000...?!

Is incorrect. They can use either normal 95RON or super unleaded.
