The continual fix at 0.5 is great news for my mortgage free challenge and feeding more money into the economy will probably pep up my bonds.

    Everything is going well. :)

Except the price of your house, the cost of food, the cost of fuel......

They claimed they would be able to cut spending - it is growing in real terms. And they claimed they would have reduced the deficit by now - it's much higher than the one in the budget.

We'll see if they can keep their promises.

True, but at least it seems to be heading in the planed direction.
I suppose it is a case of judge them if they fail.

They have a lot of time left in the parliament. And the grand ship of state takes some time to turn.

    That's what I am saying.

They will get time to show what they can do... whether people like them right now is pretty irrelevant.

Indeed, I think the like/dislikes of parties have shifted that much since the general election. Well except for the Lib Dems. :)

It's just the flip side of the coin. There are a few on here who take pleasure in homeowners in negative equity and repossession.

Politically you do have to ask how long the Tories can keep going with the current narrative.

As long as it takes. The UK appears to be 2 steps ahead of Europe and the USA at the moment. We need to remain so.

Mrs T was hugely disliked and discredited at the outset of her tenure. Fortunately she had the bottle to carry through necessary actions that ultimately did this country an enormous amount of financial good.

I'd agree but that's not how it works.

There's a limited time that the narrative can be used for. Blaming labour at the next election (whether true or not) and pointing out that things aren't quite as bad as the US or Europe isn't going to win an election.

The price of our house is irrelevent as we have no plans to move for the next 20 odd years, we grow some of our food on the farm, I have a train season ticket bought before the recent rail hikes on an interest free season ticket loan, our central heating is still off as we are heating the house with free wood and our electricity useage has gone down 20% due to the recent purchase of A++ rated white goods and move from electric shower to one supplied from our water cylinder.

You can either moan about life or get on and sort it out.

And after 20 years. You plan to cash in?
