Came home stressed about how much we are spending!
When's your big day? You much done?

Trying to budget without them but problem is I'm getting a loan for the wedding, I've got no choice bit want it for as little as possible so would be helpful if I knew what they were doing to save more debt.

But isn't like that having the holiday of your dreams or the house of your dreams - we mostly can't afford it?? But everyone expects the wedding anyway.
I don't reall see there is any problem with CHOOSING to have the wedding that you actually want! Surely when you work hard to earn money you should be able to CHOOSE to spend it on way you want without people judging you for your CHOICE.

I think though people are just trying to say the actually 'marriage' part doesn't cost a lot, whereas the OP is choosing a wedding she can't afford (hence the loan and coming home stressed over how much they've already spent)

There is nothing wrong whatsoever in choosing the wedding you want. I think it was idiophreak who put it really well in one of his posts saying he took a loan to pay for their wedding rather than save for another year he couldn't bare to wait another year to have her as his wife.

I don't think people on this site judge anyone in any depth, we're just given a post and can only go on what's been said. And in this case, not a lot.

I think maybe previous posters have latched on to the fact that the Op said they were going to take out a loan to pay for the wedding?

A loan for a perfect wedding but how many years to pay it off?
Turning our clutter to top up our house deposit: £3000/£303.05 we're on our way!
  • I'm in no way stressed about getting a loan, don't see a problem with it and trying to be sensible and have one for a little as possible hence the wanting to know what the inlaws are giving as it means I won't have to lend as much and get changed for it.

Think another quote was taken out on context, I'm not stressing over the money as I know I'm being sensible and doing everything I want for as little as possible and negotiating. Everything that I can do myself I will. It's H2B parents that are stressing over the money.

Me and the other half have been together for 7 years so I don't want to have to wait another 2 or 3 before I can be his wife :) x
  • Dinner with the inlaws tonight!!! Bet the wedding doesn't even come up! Also started the diet so hope they don't make a big whoohar of that when I want to have some healthy on the menu, dobt think the place has much choice though! Lol x

My MIL has said she will pay for the cake.. as long as she sees it and agrees to it first!! I politely declined.. and then she called my H2B and said I was being ungrateful!! Weddings must just bring out the worst in MILs!

I'm so sorry, but I did actually smile at your post (I'm off sick at the moment and think it must be the tablets!).

I can't believe she called your H2B, what did she think he would do, agree it's so unreasonable for you to not want her to agree to YOUR cake..... I really hope I don't turn out to ever be a MIL like some of those on here.........

  • Sorry I've been too busy being a bridezilla and forgot about this!! Lol!!! Dinner was same as usual, wedding came up once and fizzled out. I'm sick of bringing it up! Don't want to be that person that only talks about her wedding!!!

Anyway latest MIL drama!!!- I've had to delete her from facebook(so silly!!) right so this old work colleague always like to sugges I'm pregnant which I f'ing hate!!! I'm not trying for a baby and don't want other people to think I am. So I'm home sick and put the obligatory I
Ill status, first comment on said person on wall (grrrr) then MIL decides to join in writing things like ooo am I going to be a grandma!!! What will people think if they read that!!!

Think it makes it worse that I'm currently trying to lose weight :( was actually quite upset that she did that!!

    How's everyone else's situations going??
