Sew! by Cath Kidston £5.89 - book + materials to make Cath Kidston bag @ Amazon

I bought the book with the bag kit for around £10 when it first came out. Of the few CK books, I'd say this is the best so far in terms of having pretty and practical projects that I can actually imagine making. Along with the bag kit, I think it's worth the money, which I can't honestly say for many of the CK items I own.
It is definitely more of an eye-candy book than a sewing manual. The instructions are not super clear for a beginner - hence I only made the bag recently after doing other sewing projects first. But I would say it makes a lovely gift anyway!
The bag is a smallish unlined shoulder bag. The fabric comes as precut pattern pieces in a lovely blue cotton duck fabric with small flowers and birds. I also added a plain red lining as I don't like unlined bags - the instructions for doing this are included in the book. I haven't actually used mine as a handbag yet because it doesn't have a zip, but it is a pretty bag to hold bits and pieces safe near my dressing table.
My only criticism with the bag is that the actual pattern recommends pre-washing the fabric to make it easier to handle. Since the free fabric was precut this isn't possible and so the small pieces were a bit stiff to handle and I had to modify the button loop as I couldn't manage to turn the rouleaux loop inside out.0 -
Just saw this on Book People, Stitch for 4.99 in case anyone can't get Sew, looks pretty similar, there are reviews on Amazon.

Hi, I don't think so. There is no mention of the free kit and last year my mam got me the Sew book from Book People and it didn't have the bag kit with it- luckily someone else got me another one!0 -
