Snap - my soon to be 9 year old has a sewing machine for Christmas. I've ordered her this book, but in the pocket sized version. Instead of making the bag, you get all the stuff to make a needlecase instead.

It's a beautiful book, and really easy things to make in it too. It is also good for a more experienced sewer, so it will 'grow' with her. :)

    Debt-free and Proud!

Also available at play for the same price, as seems to be out of stock at amazon when I checked.
Debt free since July 2013! Woo hoo! The bank actually laughed when I said I have come in to cancel my overdraft.
  • It's temporarily out of stock at Amazon but you can still order it for when it comes back in. Amazon give a guarantee as well, that if the price increases before it comes back in stock you will still pay the lower price. I've ordered it, along with the Patch book thats due to be released on the 17th October.

Don't forget your student discount as well, if you have a NUS extra card you can pick up a discount code off the NUS site.

For all those buying this book just wanted to tell you, I got it last year and it's a really lovely book. Haven't actually got round to making the bag yet but it looks to be a medium sized shoulder bag. Loads of great ideas in it, some a little tricky for more advanced sewers but lots of simpler ones too. Enjoy :-)

I know this is useless as a present ... but the Martha Stewart site has some great craft ideas with free patterns and templates to dowload. You can (and I have) spend many hours just browsing.:)

I discovered that a few weeks ago and love that site now!! :D

I just thought i'd add that if anyone is interested this weekend in The Telegraph and Sunday Telegraph (8th and 9th Oct) there are two free booklets included with the papers from Cath Kidston.. projects taken from the book Sew I think. Obviously not the same as the book but if you just want a taster may be good, especially if you get the paper usually anyway :) Look here to see photos of what will be included.. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/promotions/8798882/Two-exclusive-Cath-Kidston-booklets-free-inside-The-Telegraph-this-weekend.html Part one on Saturday, Part two on Sunday.
