Snap - my soon to be 9 year old has a sewing machine for Christmas. I've ordered her this book, but in the pocket sized version. Instead of making the bag, you get all the stuff to make a needlecase instead.

It's a beautiful book, and really easy things to make in it too. It is also good for a more experienced sewer, so it will 'grow' with her.

It's temporarily out of stock at Amazon but you can still order it for when it comes back in. For all those buying this book just wanted to tell you, I got it last year and it's a really lovely book. Haven't actually got round to making the bag yet but it looks to be a medium sized shoulder bag. Loads of great ideas in it, some a little tricky for more advanced sewers but lots of simpler ones too. Enjoy :-)

I just thought i'd add that if anyone is interested this weekend in The Telegraph and Sunday Telegraph (8th and 9th Oct) there are two free booklets included with the papers from Cath Kidston.. projects taken from the book Sew I think.
