continued with instal and theres a teacup on my bottom bar will that be ok if I staop that starting up with system as I didnt want it there all the time running. I verified the java was in and it said yes whether it works ok will be another matter
I retested the sytem on the http://www.xdrive.com/support/sys_req/# page and it still comes up with this:
Java Applet Support Test Failed
Xdrive has recently added 'Folder Upload' as an optional method of uploading multiple files and folders. Use of this optional feature requires Java support to be installed and enabled in your web browser of choice. Please note: this test will always fail if JavaScript Support is disabled or JavaScript is unable to script Java Applets. We recommend that you download and install Java from Sun Microsystems for the best experience.
I'll reboot now see if everythings working okThanx

Yes, stop it - you don't need itLady_K wrote:continued with instal and theres a teacup on my bottom bar will that be ok if I staop that starting up with systemLady_K wrote:... this test will always fail if JavaScript Support
Check that is JavaScript enabled ...
Tools – internet options – Security – Custom level
Scroll to near the bottom
Scripting - Active Scripting - Enable
It says the new Folder upload feature is optional - it's just a way to upload several files at once.
Are you able to use XDrive to upload one file at a time?0 -
Thanx it is enabled in the scripting and I wasnt able to upload anything until I installed this java sun thing. Even though its not meant for win98, only win98se its gone in and I can use xdrive now. It may effect the pc in other ways not noticed yet but if that happens and it causes too many problems I will uninstal it.
The xdrive so far seems a good program for people like myself that really dont understand the ftp thing. The only thing that puts me off is that AOL have thier name on it and I have never liked AOL I'm not 100% comfortable with my file security and privacy with them and I was under the impression that AOL are a bit intrusive?Thanx

Do you think its safe to put personal stuff in this xdrive. scanned personal documents passwords n things?
Ove uploaded some of that and what happends to the stuff we delete within that program?Thanx

Most probably, I'd assume it'd be stored in some encrypted form and the connection would be secure - with the padlock symbol displayed in your browser - but I've not checked this.
I'd be inclined to encrypt personal files localy on your PC and then upload the encrypted file.
This means when you want to retrieve the files you have to download them and have the added step of having to decrypt them.
There are various utilities you can use to encrypt files on your PC.
As they're stored in an encrypted form they are no use to anyone - unless they can get access to where they are stored and crack the encryption - so they're deleted - I don't know if they're securely deleted as in wiping the disk space the file was takiing up.Lady_K wrote:Ove uploaded some of that and what happends to the stuff we delete within that program?
BUT there is always the chance that someone could login to your XDrive as you - with your username and password if they manage to get to know them - if anyone did this they'd have access to your files - so encrypting your files first yourself and then uploading them adds an extra layer of protection.0 -
I've been trying to backip and store files on there but the accelerator plus won't load and the basic upload tool goes about half way uploading the file then loses contact with the server. The program on my PC seems to fail the backup about 1/4 the way through

I've had the same problem uploading a large file 623Mb
How big is the file you are uploading?
What type of file is it ... can it be compressed to a zip file before uploading?0 -

I have three files, one is 1.29GB, others are 650MB and 700-ishMB. The 650MB completed the other day but the others still die before half waySooler wrote:I've had the same problem uploading a large file 623Mb
