    Just been reading about the Wet Rooms, i am now wondering if should have the Doorway increased but that sounds bit nasty knocking bits of the Wall away.

    I'm not recommending that site, just the first one I found with pictures as it was easier than describing the angled trays! Still shop around as you might get cheaper elsewhere.

    It is not that you need permission to do the work. It is that you need to ensure it conforms to building regulations as is the case with all building work. To do that you should liase with your local authority Building Control whose job it is to check that the correct standards are met and who will be able to advise you.

    You should do this whether you intend to sell the house or not as all building work should comply with the relevant building regulations and it is the legal responsibility of both the owner of the property and the person carrying out the work that this is done. If you did not intend to sell the house you might get away with neglecting your legal responsibilities but I don't think it is something to be encouraged. Also it would invalidate your insurance in the event of any accidental damage eg, flooding or fire, resulting from the sub-standard building work and I would think you would be potentially liable in the case of injury to a third party.

    Now at what stage would you involve the Council to visit, when you have decided what you are going to do, who gives them the plans, person doing the work?
    In that case contact ppl for quotes to do a plan, then tell the council what they have come up with? lol I have no idea.
