Help desperately needed

Hi. I need some advice urgently please.
I'm booked to go on holiday next week with someone I'm no longer speaking to. We bought a holiday abroad which was buy one get one free on a twin room. So that included the flights, room and all inclusive food/drinks. The other person is the lead name on the booking. We've tried to buy each other out with no success of finding anyone else and I don't want to lose my money and my holiday. The holiday company won't discuss it with me in any detail as not the lead name, but i found out this morning that it looks like this person is taking someone else in my place and changing the name over the next few days without telling me. I was considering going on the holiday next week and us having to just grin and bear it. The other person doesn't want me in the same room as them (and i don't want to be there) so I asked the holiday company to give me a quote for a separate room. They've said they can't do that. The lead person would have to act. But they disclosed earlier that they think my name is being changed to someone else in the next couple of days and i'm not being paid for the change. Therefore, no holiday for me if i turn up at the airport as the name will have been changed, i can't discuss it with the company and i've lost my money!
Can someone tell me what i should do next please? I don't want to be conned by this person, who is making out they're going alone.
Thanks.

Is there somebody that you both know who can act as an intermediary to sort this out?Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

No unfortunately. I don't know anyone who would want that job!0

Is it a package holiday with a tour operator, or a flight+hotel deal with flights on a no frills airline?Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

It'all been organised with a tour operator. Everything all booked under one roof.0

it appears likely that you aren't going on this holiday and that the lead passenger is changing the name.
If the lead passenger isn't likely to give you part of your money back, have you got any spare cash to go on another holiday, or would you just not go on holiday?Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
Couldn't afford another holiday and would miss out on my first holiday in 3 years. Losing a lot of money on this and obviously would be majorly aggrieved at being conned.
Would I have any legal recourse do you think? Thanks for your replies.0 -
The problem the lead passenger may have is that they may have promised the other person that they can have the holiday just for the name change cost and that you can be conned out of your money.
Perhaps find out how much the name change cost is for this holiday and then write by first class recorded/signed for delivery to the lead passenger that you want your money back, less half of the name change cost or what you think is a reasonable amount.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
I already know these details. the name change is £125. I've said that i'm willing to be paid the money I paid less the £125. So the person buying me out would only be paying the cost of the holiday and not the cost of the holiday plus the name change.0

I hope you have receipts, or some kind of proof of how much you paid the lead passenger. Since they are making it impossible for you to go on holiday, they are obliged to return this money to you.
It is very gracious of you to agree to pay the cost of the name change.0 -
All i've got is an online bank statement showing me transferring the money to her account for her to pay.0
