Atlantic Prices soaring
my daytime electric is soaring from 5.65p to 6.99p with atlantic.
nighttime little changed 2.55 down to 2.48
s/c down from 17 to 6.38
overall, i face a massive increase - and atlantic carefully manage to confuse me and others by not telling us what are charges are and what they will be - the leaflet it sent out confuses.
i've tried comparison sites but they are not up to date.
1. Does anyone know if the annual cashback is still to be given out?
2. So often on this site I learn that the best deals for things are not well known about - is this the case with electric?
3. Im confused too about comment of internet rates for atlantic - and doorstep rates etc - i joined them 2 yr ago after comparison but i sure as heck dont know if the prices i am now faced with are good or not - all i do know is a whacking 24% rise is in the pipeline but my earnings have risen 0% !!!!

Try EnergyHelpline but once you find the best rate, before clicking apply, check direct with the best provider if they'll offer you a better cashback. Eg EnergyHelpline give you £10 but Powergen direct give you £30 for switching both Electric and Gas.
EnergyHelpline has been updated with new Atlantic rates.0 -
energyhelpline has never worked on my pc - i tried many times but threw in the towel as at the end of entry of figs it always says i have been "timed out" on it - even though it only took a minute or so to enter that dam*ed figures each time!
how did you get it to work?0 -
I've just phoned atlantic to clear up a few things after getting the letter about prices rises... more complicated than I thought.. for electricity the standing charge is coming down from 16p/day to 4.62 .. but the day units rise from 5.8 to 7.14 and night from 2.55 to 2.72... a net rise of a tenner a quarter. similarly for the gas standing charge goes down from 11.29 to 9.16 - unit price up from 1.515 to 1.59 - net rise a tenner. It is also the anniversary of me signing up for them.. so I asked about my 8% rebate cheque... apparently they're planning to knock that off the bill directly in future - but because I rang and asked for it.. they'll be sent out as cheques... once they're banked I'll run the latest comparisons using martin's special links..utilita are looking promising although I've not seen much on these forums about them... you seem to accumulate points which can be used to buy energy savings bulbs or a cash discount... any info on them appreciated. rgds tim0

Yes the rebate will be as normal even with the new pricesFiliss0 -
Remember that with Atlantic the cash back is after each set of 12 consecutive DD payments - which might be slightly later than 12 months of supply (depending on how long it took to set up the DD) - so be aware of this if you plan to change to a different supplier as you might inadvertently lose the cash-back by changing too soon.0

further to my post, I've now had an email back from atlantic that simply adds further confusion.
They tell me that my new tariff will be
standing charge 6.38p/day,
day rate price per kWh = 7.28p
night rate price per kWh = 2.57p
all these prices are excluding Vat @ 5%
It is claimed that this is the cheapest tariff as it includes the rebate of 8.5%
These figures are higher than in the leaflet and DIFFERENT to when I phoned them 2 days ago.
One thing is for certain - I am leaving Atlantic as soon as I get my rebate cheque.
I am going to switch to a green tariff supplier and do my bit to "save" the planet - far more important in this instance than maximising my cash savings.
anyone able to recommend the best value green?0 -
just worked out my bill - atlantic soaring 29% that stinks.0

yes that is the east midlands internet tariff that is the cheapest one that atlantic does. have a look at the sse power 2 tariff if you want a green tariff. they will plant trees to get rid of the co2 produced when you burn gas. also they will supply you with hydro electric not power station elec so that is cleanFiliss0 -
i like the idea of sse tree planting offset - what a cool idea.
Im leaving atlantic for sure - going green - and it seems the ideal time to do it - very little cost to me - will check sse and others.
atlantic rates are not making sense - 6.99 ex vat emid according to leaflet - up from 5.65 but they say is gonna be 7.28 newrate ex vat. lousy company!0 -
Is anyone taken in by this green energy con. Does anyone really believe the energy produces by an environmental friendy source comes down the power lines missing all your neghbours & just goes into the houses that purchase green energy.
If you are interested in the envirnoment look for the Suppleir who supplies the biggest percentage of green energy.0
