Yup! "Shopping tarts" R US! (In addition to being credit card "tarts" etc.)

I have a look in Lidl and Aldi sometimes - don't have them near me so only venture out to one every now and then. I find the atmosphere in these stores quite depressing but nevermind. Don't really like their fresh stuff but would defo check prices on tin foil, pocket tissues etc i.e. dry goods and such like. However I find Asda just as good on the prices of these items a lot of times. Or my local market stall is just as good too.

speaking as someone in the food chain , there is no such thing as the "cheapest" supermarket . Some goods are known as kvi 's (known value items to the public ) such as milk bread eggs , sugar etc , they all compete on price with these , because this where most people make their judgement on 'the cheapest' shopping , but they all add more to other lines to make up for it , I bought some home made pizzas from a local farm shop recently and thought they would be dearer than tescos , but in fact they were 10% cheaper than the cheapest similar ones in store ,

One last point , recently a study found 30% of all food bought ends up in the bin in one way or another , I think we should get away from the cheap option and look at the quality more ,and the distance it has travelled to be on the shelves , So if you are buying your food and chucking a third of it away its not that cheap in the end
dare i say marks and spencer might even be in with a shout as very little of what we buy there (when we treat ourselves ) gets thrown away , probally because we are more carefull what we buy in the first place
