Tesco & Sainsburys stopped the price reduction on Milk .

Aaargh.

We get thru quite a lot of milk in a week, and for ages I've been buying the 4 pint bottles (I'm disabled, the 6 pint ones are too heavy to pour easily, and don't fit in the fridge as well).

Until recently we were getting 2 X 4pts for £2 - so we would buy 4 at a time. Then it became 3 X 4pts for £3. less convenient, cos 3 doesn't see us thru the week, but 6 won't fit in our fridge all at once, so we were having to go out to top up before the week-end.

Now they seem to have stopped those offers (tho Tesco had some purple topped semi-skimmed at £1 for 4 pts last week- couln't tell what the purple top meant, bought it, it tasted the same).

So this basically means that from this week, milk has risen in price by 25%

Just a short rant - unless you can tell me where milk is still around £1 for 4 pts ??
I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say. :)

Ahn now last time I bought Aldi Milk - aaaaages ago, it's true - it seemed to go off in 2 or 3 days. So I didn't buy it there again - in fact I haven't been in aldi for a long time, because I felt all their fresh produce didn't last as well as the sains/tesco stuff. No point in paying less if you have to throw stuff away before you can use it.

  • Asda still do 2 for £2. Lidl is £1 for 4pints, I think Iceland and Farmfoods are too. I used to buy the purple lidded stuff when it was 85p but we stopped because we didn't like it, it's more like skimmed milk, very watery and doesn't freeze at all well.

    I believe it's 1% fat milk.

No, tesco Creamfield milk - available as whole or semi-skimmed, but with a purple top ?

God I wouldn't touch 1% fat milk, it's just water with a bit of white stuff YUK!

  • I shop at Sainsburys but I buy Fresh 'N' Lo which is 2lt for 89p you have to hunt for it as they tend to put it in a croner of the chill section.
