Car cleaning MSE styleee?

Poundland in Leeds and Sheffield Meadowhall have recently had these things http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TURTLE-WAX-JET-WASH-CAR-WASH-4all-car-golf-corsa-saxo_W0QQitemZ160108623361QQihZ006QQcategoryZ72201QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
and also a wax version for, wait, you guessed it £1 each. (No doubt this idiot is trying it on after buying them from poundland). Only trouble is I have had difficulty finding a hose fitting for it that will attach. The flash car wash system has a fitting inside it which fits. I guess it may be a case of going to B&Q to get the correct fitting. I have not tried it yet as not needed to wash the car yet.
Other option is ASDA smartprice car shampoo etc. The stuff is actually quite good for the price and very concentrated. WHatever you do don't use washing up liquid as previously mentioned. It will damage the car's paintwork.
You don't need an outdoor tap for a hose. Stick the hose through the window and use a round tap hose fitting. I got my tap fitting from Wilkinsons for £1.49 and it doesn't leak, even with the waterstop on.0 -

Being behind the wheel legally makes you a driver in the eyes of the law. Therefore someone under 17 being behind the wheel would be suspicious lol. And the car won't move much with the handbrake off if it's left in gear anyway

OK not overly MSE but....................
My local BP garage do Silver Car Washes for £4.99. Buy 5 and you get 5 free so only £2.50 a time! They have little booklets you can get stamped! :beer:0 -
I always wash by hand, never in my life have I used a car wash (amd don't plan to).
Hose down, then I've got a 5lt container of the shampoo stuff, costs £5-£10 and lasts yeeears. Stick a drop in a bucket of warm water, then sponge the whole van starting off with the windows and making my way towards the bottom.
A usful way of hosing down if you don't have access to mains water is a pump action garden sprayer, I have a 10ltr one but you can get bigger. Not as fast as a mains hose but it gets the job done0 -
If we're really into money saving then don't wash it at all. I occasionally slosh a bit of water over windows I can't see out of and clean the lights otherwise I let the mud build up. I like to think it is a protective surface over the paint.0

Are you joking? Lol. It will oxidise the paint and make it look crap when you do come to clean it, without putting lots of effort using something like t-cut.If we're really into money saving then don't wash it at all.
