Virgin Media digging in our road - how do I find out why?!

We have no fibre optic cabling in our road, so cannot get Virgin Media. However, there are roadworks in our road at the moment by Virgin Media. How do I find out what the plans are, and if/when we will have cable tv and internet?

I've tried asking the workman and the contracting company - they do not know anything other than they have to dig a trench and put some cabling in. I've tried asking Virgin Media customer service - they can only tell me whats available now, not whats planned.

Someone must know?!

VM's planning department will be the only ones to know until it's ready for release so it'll be opened up to the sales dept. The's no way you can find out. When they dig up your footpath & install a swept tee & a toby box outside your home, then you'll know. But it could be for anything, they could be routing a new multi drop cable to an existing service point for one,but if they're just digging now, you're looking about 2 to 6 months down the line before it's released.

Same thing happened where i live. VM laid about 1-2k of cabling in green ducts from one point to another.
There are no VM mains cables to either end of this (i know because i can view utility plans). That being said the cable that was laid isnt showing on VM plans either
All in all rather strange. so i asked the workmen they said they had some sort of agreement with BT.
I asked someone i know at Vm and he was unaware but basically said the same someone in planning may know.

    Debt-free and Proud!
I didn't think VM were investing in areas without cable, due to the large amount of debts they have.

No they dont appear to be, which really just reinforces BT's monopoly in those area's, which makes it even more odd that they are doing some 'small' works in those areas!

Ok, we have a big CATV cover (bigger that the one pictured above) at the end of our road now. Not sure if they're extending down our road or not...

It could be that BT are going to connect their Fibre Optic cable into VM's network....
