how much for pug 106 full service

what would a reasonable amount be? its 52 plate 1.1 petrol for a full service (by that i mean oil, air filter, fuel filter, spark plugs anything else?)

it also needs its mot

(last time a local garage charged 200 quid for a full service, i thought it would be cheaper than this)

I would expect it to cost me in the region of £40-50 to do that myself, with that in mind I'd expect to pay between say £80 and £110 for someone else to do it. £200 is just silly money for a 106, you will get places to do an oil, filter and air filter change for about £40 - could even ask them about cost to change the fuel filter too and then change the plugs yourself?

Mot will be around £55

A full service includes removing cleaning inspecting and lubricating the brakes, rear drum brake inspection includes removal of the drums/hubs and new locking nuts each side, possible brake fluid renewal.
Full check of suspension, exhaust and everything else underneath.

Under the bonnet add coolant checking/topping up to strength/renewal, battery check etc, belt checks etc to the basic engine service you mentioned.

Including the price of the MOT, if you got everything there done for £200 including any parts needed you didn't do too badly.

Might be due a cambelt soon too, don't let that go overdue in case it breaks.

The problem with servicing is that one mans idea of a full service is an oil change, he then moans when the brakes go metal to metal later in the year.

At that age its well overdue a cambelt change unless thats already been done?

Full Service and MOT done at the same time will be in the region of £200. Add an extra £150 to that if the cambelt is due.

mmm...now realised that 'service' can mean entirely different things.

can people suggest what should be included in a 'full service' especially for this car so i check that the garage will do it

Brake fluid change and coolant change are a good idea on a full service.

I'd write a list of the things you know you want done, and take it to an independent mechanic for a quote, but I think it's quite important to actually discuss that list with him to make sure you haven't forgotten anything, and to give him a chance to make suggestions if for example he feels it's quite important to get X or Y done too. If he's a decent mechanic it gives you a chance to benefit from his experience, it's not just another way for him to make money.

Plugs are a b1tch to get to on most Peugeot's, often involves removing the brake fluid reservior to gain access.... Wherever you take it, make sure you mark up screws/bolts/parts so you can see later whether they're been removed or not.
Plenty of garages out there who'd love to take your cash and not lift a finger to the car.

thanks strider but i have no idea how to access the spark plugs!

regarding coolant, during the cambelt change last year (december) i had the water pump changed too. they said they topped up the coolant

A 'full' service at Toyota Derby for my IQ is only £125, inc fluids, sparks and filters and visual checks, £200 is a bit steep imo for an old car, unless it included replacing stuff like shoes/exhaust box. For an MOT I'd try elsewhere, one of those council places for example.
