Hi All,
Have a Triton shower. Been in about 9 years. Always used on high setting but recently started getting water that is too hot with this setting so have turned to the lower setting. Have tried turning it down but the water is still too hot.
This is working at the moment but was wondering whether my shower can be fixed rather than replaced so that i can use the high setting again and if it can, how much will i be looking at for a repair ?
The low setting is ok but the water comes out faster on the high setting and am now worried that i'll be left with no shower at all eventually if it's the thermostat and it goes completely. Can't live without a shower every day !

9 year old shower? Replacing it would probably be more economical0

Probably would but just dont have the money spare at the moment so was hoping could get it repaired cheaper ? I know it will need replacing eventually.0 -
The point being made is that it might be cheaper to replace it than repair it, depending on the fault and the time needed to diagnose it. The labour is likely to be more than the cost of a basic shower. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Most plumbers will recommend replacement rather than repair, but often a same-size replacement is unavailable, so that brings in cost of remedial work to tiles, walls, different pipework etc.
I replaced the solenoid on our Mira for the sum of £20 + postage and some instruction from forums and staff at

you can buy a new electric shower from about £60, almost certainly going to be cheaper than getting parts, plumber and running costs. and if you go like fore like you won't need a plumber to install.0

One cheap thing to dry - stick the shower head in a jug of vinegar for a few hours. If (like us) you are in a hard water area the shower head will scale up, which in turn slows down the water flow through the shower head. Electric showers by and large are pretty dumb machines - they have a big heating element in them that works flat out all the time, and the temperature of the output water is controlled by changing how much flows through it. Lots of flow means the element can't heat it up very much, little flow means it heats it a lot. Cleaning the head might just make the difference.Adventure before Dementia!0

or take the shower head off and see if the water temp is better - saves messing about with vinegar unless its likely to help

Is it a flexible pipe between the shower unit and the shower head?
If so, try unscrewing the pipe at the shower head and running the shower without the head attached, see if the temperature without the head attached is closer to what you were used to on the high setting.
As the above poster stated, if may just be down to a gradual build up over time in the shower head, causing the flow to be restricted which in turn causes the water to become more heated than normal.0 -
