add BIN or make offer

Options
HI I have an auction with 24 watchers and 4 days left, I have had a request for a BIN at the starting price, I think it is worth more but want to add a BIN or make offer feature. It doesnt seem to let me do this when I go to revise the listing, is it not possible?

I wouldn't bother. With 24 watchers you are likely to get more than your starting price.

If you leave it as it is, and the only bidder is the one requesting the BIN, you are no worse off.

If you put a BIN on, as soon as someome places a bid the BIN goes anyway, so it can be a waste of money.
  • Grrr, just went to add bin but the girl wanting it has put a bid on so unable to do this! She wants me to remove it from eBay and sell it to her. I think this is a breach. I have sent a polite message explaining why I can do this, my worry is now if she wins I will get a neg grrr!

No, you can cancel her bid and block her if you wish

In these circumstances I probably would cancel it.

However, I've turned down offers before and had people bid and win without problems. If they want the item then they want it.

I also never count watchers as serious unless they bid - too many people put things on their watch list and forget them. I had six or seven watchers on one of my items recently and only one bid. If someone offers me a reasonable amount up front for something - and I mean reasonable - I jump at the chance as a sale is a sale. Start price...well, it depends, if the item has been around a bit, I might just take them up on it to get rid of it. I very rarely start at less than I'm prepared to take for it, though. Bidding has lost its novelty and I seldom get huge bidding wars on anything I sell so there are precious few items I can ever afford to start below the minimum and know that they will get good prices.

The people who ask believe the only thing you can say is no, but this person does sound like trouble. That said, I'll still stress that watchers =/= bids.

  • If you're happy with selling at the start price, ask her to bid then end the auction and 'sell to the highest bidder'

So no need to pay extra for a bin at the starting price!

If you want more for your item, why not leave it to the auction?

If a person pressures or worries you, cancel their bids and block them.

Best Wishes. Hope your sale goes well.
  • the stupid woman now says 'I dont want it now as you are misleading me' after I explained politely I couldn't put a BIN on after she had placed a bid. I have blocked her and removed her stupid bid. God why does ebay make me dislike people so much.

Just watch out for any 0 feedback bids and cancel and block them in case it's her.

    fingers crossed for your sale
  • Thankfully if it doesn't sell I will be happy, I like the item and ok to keep it I just done actually need it!

a bit late now but the easiest way is to just end the auction and re-list with the BIN price that she wants to pay.

watchers mean absolutely nothing though. Watchers aren't bidders, just people who are interested in the auction for one reason or another.
