Buying.Depends on a whole lot of factors such as permanence of job location, marital status etc etc but for me it always makes sense to buy instead of rent. I don't understand certain people who are happy to spend £1000 plus on rent but I'm sure they have their reasons.
My reasons for buying:
I will own a house which I can then pass on to my child(ren)
Source of equity (house prices go up more often and by a greater margin than they come down)
No risk of being tarnished with the previous renter's poor credit record or clandestine activities.
I won't feel I'm throwing money away if I choose to make major improvements to the house (that is if the landlord would let you do them in the first place)The reason people don't move right down inside the carriage is that there's nothing to hold onto when you're in the middle.0 -
This is as arbitrary a poll as asking which is better?
Apples
Grapefruits
Fruit smoothies?0 -

Renting.everything has an answer - we just don't know them all yet.
If a survey found that 0.56 % of House owners committed suicide every year, and only 0.24 % or tenants commited suicide, wouldn't that suggest that mabe renting was better?
(For arguments sake of course)0 -

Not really - you couldn't blame the suicides on being a house owner.0 -
