It's a middle man for pushing it through to completion quicker and knowing which lender is most appropriate. Hardly 'for nothing'

New 95% mortgage launched today through intermediaries. Also available direct as long as the property is in Staffordshire. The hated intermediaries have country wide access.

Unless you are in Staffordshire you can cut your nose off to spite your face and disregard this offering.

I'm sure the OP already knew about it.

The majority of 95% deals are currently 'direct only' (which will no doubt suit the OP) but the recent report I had from one lender on the subject is that reject rate is running at around 80%.

Now all I need to do is the raise the enthusiam to go and check our (intermediary) research tools for 95% LTV including direct and tell him/her who they are - which any (sorry most) of the comparison sites (who will also run a generic credit credit search and add him/her to a gazillion mailing lists), will also do ...... and then maybe he/she wants me to run a criteria check, do a manual credit assessment (nearer guess to the 'score' than the purchased nonsense) - incidentally with none of his/her relevant data available, none of which the comparison site is going to do, in ordrer to post on here to give him/her the answer he/she is asking for.

I think I'd rather he/she did it themselves since he/she "hates" my partner/boss who receives a bunch of flowers, box of chocolates, bottle of wine (the wine is mine!) etc from clients who believe she has made a difference to their lives (does the the OP achieve that in his/her 'profession' ?) around once a month and who is just coming off the phone now after an hour of advising (and comforting) a client about how to best deal with her purchaser (in the chain) who is having a neurosis attack as the estate agent (who is grabbing about 3% on a 'willing & able' clause contract) has failed to reply to any of the legitimate queries given to them last week.

I think I'll just go and warm up her dinner instead !

Well saying "I hate intermediatries" isn't going to 'go down well' is it, when plenty of these people you hate post on the forums giving help day in day out to people who can't be bothered to thank them or just 'hate' them.

Although you are entitled to your view and I do not berate you for that, you are being a little short sighted I feel.

For my first mortgage when there were loads of products around, even being the thorough obsessive I am it would have taken me a lot of research and the broker I used had access to products I didn't!

When I wanted to remortgage (which was a for a long while, I was just waiting patiently for a 90% LTV remortgage product to come out!) I finally noticed a HSBC product, I called my usual FA/broker to see if a lot more had come out that he could access and I couldn't.

Fair play he was very honest and said this was pretty much the only product around (I think Halifax had one, but the interest rate was more than what rate I was on) so to apply direct.

I would use a broker again gladly, especially when I reach a LTV % that there are a lot of products for. But my time is valuable to me, so the fee is worth less to me than the time it would take me to research everything!
