Barclays Interner Banking

Is there any account I could apply and get with the Barclay's that will enable me to use their Online banking? I was told in the branch, that the only way to get an access to their internet banking is to get a current account, which comes with a debit card that I need to put in to their card reader in order to Log in. I only need free Kaspersky Internet Security of them, and therefore don't really fancy opening unnecessarily current account with them. Is there any account they have, that would enable me to use their internet banking without me having to got through full credit search etc ?

You could try for a cash card account, although my experience is you have to work damned hard to get one.0

So really you don't need a bank account, you only want the free internet security software they provide. Why not use one of the many free internet security software packages available on the internet?0

I'm sorry but I feel really sorry for you. It is very sad. You can download any antivirus from torrents.0 -

I can download everything from torrents, however I am yet to find any working crack for Kaspersky. And believe me I am not one of those good guys who pays their hard earned money for software. Kaspersky, however are really tough now on their security, so even the usual trick with trial re setter doesn't works any more0 -
Branches don't always tell the whole truth. I do have a current account at Barclays, but it's so long since I paid any money in that they stopped sending me debit cards years ago. So, when they sent me a card reader, they also sent me an Authentication card. This is a chip & pin card whose only function is to be used with the card reader.
So it might be worth opening just a savings account and then trying to register for online banking. They do have the technology."It will take, five, 10, 15 years to get back to where we need to be. But it's no longer the individual banks that are in the wrong, it's the banking industry as a whole." - Steven Cooper, head of personal and business banking at Barclays, talking to Martin Lewis0 -

I have an Essential Savings (nee Woolwich for Kids) which does nothing but have a few tenners sit in it as an emergency backup. It came with a cashcard for use in Barclays cash machines. I tried a few months ago to see if I could set up online banking. The card number doesn't please the online setup form, and when I called up I was told that I needed a current account for online banking.
(Some part of me is slightly reassured that I have at least one easy access account which wouldn't be emptied if my security paranoia weren't enough and all my online banking passwords were somehow obtained.)0 -
Kaspersky is £29.99, how much is your life/ time worth? Surely the amount of effort you've spent to date exceeds the value of the software?0
